"Call it the ZAR National First Division"

Lehlohonolo Mashabela

Thulani Serero walked away with 600k while Jomo Cosmos took 350k. It is a sad story especially considering gore starting from next season there will be a quota of young SA players participating in that league.

Which will effectively mean that the league will be good for development, but still no sponsorship yet to be announced? Kamo the traveling expenses will sky rocket compared to the past season because we are going to have one stream.

The least said about the Zamalek Cup the better. I effectively ban myself from drinking SAB (South African Breweries) produced biri. Kenny Kunene we need a sponsor - we can call it the ZAR National First Division or Mr. Robert Gumede from Gijima. You can empower the already empowered guy ko lions zama mandarkie. Mr. Tokyo Sexwale, you can also come back as recession is long gone.

Yzeman Ntuthuko Ngobese
Ja NFD really need a sponsor, I read they all receive 250K grant a month, considering the fact that majority of the teams playing in that division do not have sponsors and will be one stream next season, I think this 250k won't be enough at all, on the other hand we have Carling Black Label Cup.

Thabo Mo'Afrika
This demonstrates the pathetic state of SA football leadership and African leadership in general. NFD should be a fully professional league that is self-sufficient to a large extent. SA has stadiums and other infrastructure to make NFD a quality…

WHAT must be done so the NFD can get a sponsor? TELL US!

Congratulations to Thulani Serero

Congratulations to Thulani Serero. Thulani did very well this season... Serero deserves the recognition especially since he doesn’t play the Big 3.

As a Pirates supporter, I felt Andile Jali's pain, the Premier Soccer League couldn’t at least give him one more award, but hey such is the nature of the sport. His consistency was evident in being nominated for six awards.

People had a lot to say when Teko Modise won it and the team had nothing to show. So where are those people now???

Bobby Motaung paves the way for Kaizer Chiefs 2011/2012 season

Ok, first things first, let me congratulate Orlando Pirates for winning the league title and say ‘hard luck’ to Ajax Cape Town for squandering their chance on the last day of the season. To be honest, we should take credit for handing it to the Mayfair boys. That 4–0 whooping we handed Ajax turned out to be very decisive as the Urban Boys missed out only on goal difference.

I wasn’t so disappointed about us not winning it, because our chance was always a mathematic one and you know what that means. To add to that, I was very proud with the way we finished the season, on the day, we did what we had to do to better our mathematic chances, but we always knew a point for Ajax or a win from Pirates would draw us out of the equation. So I’m pretty content with that we didn’t lose or fail to collect maximum points. We showed character and we should all take pride in the way our team played.

On Valery Nahayo joining KAA Gent of Belgium
Throughout the season, and mostly his time at Chiefs, Valery Nahayo has always worn the Kaizer Chiefs jersey with pride. We signed him from Jomo Cosmos a few seasons ago (in 2008 to be precise) and many will agree that he added stability to our defense that consisted of the likes of Mokete Tsotetsi, Cyril Nzama, Fabian McCarthy etc. etc.

I think it’s fair to say Fabian was ageing and Nahayo joined just at the right time. This past season was one of his best ever; he was that hard man in the center of our defence, and the guy that made all the crunch tackles. For the first time since joining the club, he managed to score twice as he completed a total number of 1980 minutes representing the famous Black and Gold. A fantastic season he had and no one deserves that move to KAA Gent more than he does right now, so really, congratulations to him and we wish him all the best. He remains a Khosi for Life!

A big hole in defense?
Of course, with his departure, we all panicked about the gap that he would leave in our defence. When we first heard about him leaving for trials, the question in everyone’s mind was who would replace this hard working defender and to his credit, Bobby Motaung moved swiftly to answer our question and put our doubts to rest.

For the first time in many years that Bobby has been our football manager, I can say that most if not all of the Amakhosi fans are very pleased with him and his actions. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, let me fill you in; We reportedly made R10 million from selling Nahayo to the Belgian club and for the first time in many years, Bobby didn’t chase free defenders, we allegedly paid R1.5 million for Nahayo’s direct replacement, Tefu Mashamaite from Wits and I’m certain we paid around R500k for the 21 year old Brent Lawler from AmaTuks.

Now everyone will tell you, the Bobby we used to know would be in Zimbabwe right now looking for a BOGOF (Buy one get one free) deal, but for the first time, he pleased the Amakhosi faithful and bought a home grown, young defender. And actually spent over a million for him. The last time we spent a million for a player was when we signed Siphiwe Tshabalala from Free State Stars back in 2007.

So if you were asking about whether we’ll have a hole in defense now that Nahayo has left, I think Bobby answered your question.

Are we to see more of this during the transfer season?
Certainly, I’m very confident we are going to see more credible signings for Kaizer Chiefs before the new season resumes, Bobby clearly stated earlier in the week that we will be buying a striker and I expect this striker to be better than what we already have.

One of our problems last season was that we didn’t have much weight on our bench and when our star strikers got injured, we struggled to score goals or bring suitable replacements, hence our season ended the way it did. I’m not sure where the coach is looking to strengthen his squad, but I’m pretty sure we need two or three more signings to complete our squad.

With all that said, I say let’s look forward to next season, we did our best, we shouldn’t have played some draws, but we did and that’s how the cookie crumbles, we just have to learn to deal with it differently next season and hope to keep the PSL title in Soweto, only move it to Phefeni.

Right, I wish you all a Khosified Friday.

Barcelona vs Manchester United: Who will annex the coveted trophy?

Two behemoths of European football battle it out on the tittle they first won at a ‘mythical shrine’, Wembly stadium. Who will annex the coveted trophy?

As the sun has set on many, if not all leagues across Europe, people from all walks of life will be engrossed by the finale of the most prestigious tournament in the world, the Uefa Champions League.

Both teams have won their respective leagues convincingly, and without a doubt they are filled with confidence to the brim. Bookmarkers and Pundits have tipped Barcelona to run away as winners in this tie of the titans, but have done so with a shadow of a doubt, in cognizance of Manchester United's pedigree.

In retrospect to the 2009 final in Rome between these two teams, where Barca won 2-0, there was a common denominator between both teams as they had world class players in their camps who were peerless, in a form of Christiano Ronaldo for the Red devils and Lionel Messi for the Catalan based club. Now the former wears the white strips of Los Blancos and the latter is still at Barca, turning defenders inside and out in the drop of the shoulder.

Now with Fergie bereft CR7, and Pep still enjoying the irrepressible displays of the atomic flea, the latter holds an advantage given that Messi can turn the game in his favour in a blink of an eyelid. He (Pep) once quipped to a fan after one of Messi's grandeur goal that,''if it weren't for him,i would be working in the third division.''That tells you how Barca's system relies on Messi, if their benign possession football does not bear any fruition.

With that said, it will be treacherous to write off Sir Alex Ferguson's charges. They thrive on team work and their winning mentality. They have the 'killer instinct' and the 'devil-may-care' convictions, that has brought them insurmountable success.

Whatever the outcome, it will be a pleasure to watch Barca's carousel of passing football and the adept tactical exhibition of United.Any score predictions?

Motaung gives Chiefs supporters quality

KAA Genk’s purchase of Valery Nahayo carved a niche for Bobby Motaung to loosen up the purse strings.

Amidst supporters’ outcry for Kaizer Chiefs to buy top quality players in the PSL,Bobby Motaung reacted in a best possible manner to acquire the services of Wits Captain,Tefo Mashamaite,to fill the void left by Valery Nahayo.

It is well documented that Amakhosi are keeping the purse strings tight when it comes to the transfer market, and this offseason won’t be an exception. If Tefo’s signing makes you think Chiefs will venture into the market to buy more ‘quality’ players,do not hold your breath.

Needless to say,the latter’s acquisition was necessitated by Nahayo exit to KAA Genk, furthermore the proceeds from his sale which is estimated to be just under R10 million was used to imburse Wits around R1.5 million for their hard working defender.I’am not by any means extenuating Mashamaite’s acquisition,in fact he is a better player than Nahayo,a future Bafana player. His signing was shrewd.Bobby’s meticulous spending just gnaws me.

However, being economical is not the worst thing in the world.Barcelona are practicing it.Most of their players are from their youth ranks, and they scarcely break the bank for big name players but they are the best in the world.

I’am not yet convinced that the Motaungs can compete in the transfer market for big name players,if anything else, they will continue to stuck to their doctrine of frugality.

No use of boycotting Carling Black Label Cup

Whether aggrieved supporters boycott this game or not, the fact is it will receive almost full capacity if not full. Not all decisions that are taken will favour all of us.

The fact is, money talks. When a company uses Premier Soccer League brand as a vehicle for its social responsibility without paying royalties to the brand, then business decisions need to be taken.

We called to vote for teams participating in the tournament and also paid to watch teams during the tournament. The money received from calls and gate taking were distributed to qualifying charities. Participating teams got a small slice, "appearance fee".

The company used PSL brand to gain free mileage because of the popularity of the sport and they didn't pay anything extra towards charities. If this is your organization, would you have continued with the previous arrangement?

My answer is no. We live in a commercialised world, it is cents that count and not emotions.

All roads lead to Wembley

With most seasons at an end the Champion's league game may as well be the ultimate game of the season. We are promised an unscripted thriller of a match between Manchester United and Barcelona.

Sounds like a remake of a Rome 2009 final which saw United come out with tails between their legs after Barcelona triumphed for a prestigious champion's league glory.

Sir Alex Ferguson have succeeded before in plotting for Barcas fall, but can he do it again? Jose Mourinho insinuated that the referees had a soft heart for the Catalans. If that be true then the unfair dismissal of Darren Fletcher in Rome 2009 should well be in the memory of the red devils, and I guess its not going to be easy at Wembley on Saturday.

In 2009 United had the services of the catalyst CR7(Christiano Ronaldo), but then he was on a selfish crusade and Lionel Messi had a brilliant game. Pep Guardiola has a very sleek and flashy side. One wonders how Ferguson will plan his game.

The play station like Lionel Messi gave Jose Mourinho sleepless nights ahead of the 2 legged semi final clashes, One can only just wonder if Ferguson will resort to the same tactics or not. Beating Barca could help catalyse Ferguson's retirment. Who wouldn't like to retire while ahead? If he can master Barcelona then he might as well retire. Hey, don't look at me like that.

Manchester united play very disciplined and not so attractive football (My opinion) at times, but then it is winning football. With Carrick in the centre Lionel Messi may not have a free flowing game. United have Mr. Wayne Rooney who can score from every angle everywhere. United's defense is also on point with Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand on some great form and their last line in the form of Edwin van der Sar is impeccable.

I hope for a United win and maybe Ferguson can decide to stay away from the sidelines for good or maybe Barca can just do it one more time!

One more time
We're gonna celebrate
Oh yeah, alright
Don't stop the dancin'
One more time
We're gonna celebrate
Oh yeah, alright
Don't stop the dancin'
One more time
We're gonna celebrate
Oh yeah, alright
Don't stop the dancin'
One more time
We're gonna celebrate
Oh yeah
One more time
One more time
I'm just feelin' celebration tonight
Celebrate
No, we don't stop
You can't stop

I won’t watch the Booze Cup

So I guess the Charity Cup devalued the league because Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates were more than likely to meet one another, after having played in the Vodacom Challenge, then there will be two league games, and possibly 2 Top 8 matches, Nedbank Cup and Telkom Cup. In essence the Charity Cup had nothing to do with fixture congestion.

Khoza and Motaung were busy negotiating a deal for the Booze Cup. This is really disgusting. Pirates and Chiefs will now have the spotlight all to themselves. As a football fan, I will not watch this nonsense, both the Booze Cup and Cellphone Exhibition matches.

Nike unveils Machester United 2011/12 kit

This season Manchester United will play in a new home kit inspired by the traditional red, white and black club colours infused with a distinctive pattern iconic in club history.

The body of the shirt is traditional red with a white crafted crew neck collar and central black stripe to replicate the design of the club’s iconic bar scarf, which has previously appeared on the shirts of legendary United sides of the past, including the 1977 and 1985 FA Cup winners, and on the back of the 2008 Champions League and Barclays Premier League winners.

The retro bar scarf is an instantly recognisable Manchester United pattern, held aloft by fans and players in times of both celebration and remembrance. Inside the front of the shirt, on the back of the club crest, is the phrase ‘Relentless’, which perfectly captures United’s pursuit of success and drive to consistently win the greatest trophies in club football.

On the back of the shirt below the neck is a small devil from the club crest, while inside the neck reads ‘Manchester United.’

While the history and tradition of the club is present in the shirt design, the new home kit is made from Nike’s ground-breaking recycled polyester – which for the first time includes both the shirt and shorts.
Each complete kit is made up of up to thirteen reclaimed plastic water bottles. This new manufacturing process reduces energy consumption by up to 30% compared to manufacturing traditional polyester and saves nearly 100 million plastic water bottles from being dumped at landfill sites.

The home shorts this season are entirely white except for a small woven tab on the hem, which also features the black and white stripe from the United bar scarf. And the new home socks are black with a small white devil from the club crest on the calf and a red, white and black striped band at the top.

The light weight kits (13% lighter than previous versions) actively regulate the players’ body temperatures on the pitch to keep them dry and cool at all times through use of Nike Dri-FIT technology. This technology draws sweat away from the player’s body through the material where it can evaporate.

Temperature regulation is helped by ventilation zones, consisting of hundreds of tiny laser cut holes from the under arms to the waistband, allowing air to circulate to keep players dry, cool and comfortable.
For the first time the club crest on the front of the shirt is heat transferred, making it even lighter and crucially allowing this area to now be ventilated as well.

The shirt has a new aerodynamic fit this season, now slimmer and more athletic, providing 17% more stretch than the Manchester United shirt of two years ago. While a bonded hem offers a streamlined look that reduces irritation caused by chafing.

To compliment the new match day kit Nike has launched a unique Manchester United line of training and lifestyle clothing for both players and fans to wear on and off the pitch.

The kit and extended line will be available in South African stores from mid-July. For more information visit nikefootball.com and nikemedia.com for shirt and player images.

Happy that Pirates won not Ajax

I am not being political but even though I am a Kaizer Chiefs fan, I think it is good that the league was won by Orlando Pirates.

If Ajax Cape Town had won the cup, the DA leader was going to tell the whole world that Cape Town is the home of champions, I can also see her dancing around with the cup during her campaigns in the next election.

As for the Orlando Pirates fans well done, but please stop rubbing it on! We know you are champions… Damn!! V.V. waze wasi kosta.......

Our intelligence is being insulted

I thought the reason for doing away with the Telkom Charity Cup was fixture congestion *confused* Now there's this Carling Black Label Cup that's just emerged.

Are we soccer fans so dumb in the eyes of toothy and Kaizer? They obviously did away with the Charity Cup because it brought in no revenue for them. I say as fans we must take a stand and boycott this thing.

These guys are taking us 4 a ride and we need to let them know that football is nothing without us fans. They are nothing without us fans. This Carling Cup thing is nothing without us fans. We are not primary school kids!

Our intelligence is being insulted here, and our rights as fans (the right to entertaining football, which the Charity Cup gave us) are being undermined. Khoza must come forth with an explanation or else we must NOT attend this carling cup thing. And for the record, I'm a hardcore Kaizer Chiefs fan, so if there was any suspicion of bias in my comments, it should, just like the Charity Cup, be done away with.

What a good 2010/2011 PSL season

Wow! What a good 2010/2011 PSL season, Congratulations to the Buccaneers, they deserve to be the ABSA Champions.

Bucs was consistence through out the season no doubt about that. And not forgetting the Pirates Coach, You are really the best I see no reason for Mr. Iron Juke dug and dive about renewing your contract.

I don’t want to lie this past weekend was full of sparks especially considering the top 3 were playing a good football, What I liked most is the fact that it was not easy for everyone to decide which team will win the Trophy, it was goal after goal. At the end the last whistle from 3 referees was the decider.

Lastly I would like to send vote of thanks to PSL Committee, PSL Teams, Orlando Pirates, Ajax Cape Town, SABC (Metro FM, LESEDI FM, SABC1) SuperSport and 3 referees who refs 3 top games past weekend. It was one of the best seasons ever; keep on doing good job guys.

This is the Pirates Soccer League

I hope my colleagues at work understand why I support this team. I stood behind this team through thick and thin not because I enjoyed the pain but because of the manner they win trophies.

Remember back in 1995 in the African Champions League when the odds were against us and we came out triumphed.

The whole week we were reminded of how we were not going to be the champions and every newspaper and sport analyst going for Ajax Cape Town for the championship, I hope they now know what keeps us supporting this team; it is not about winning but winning when it matters most.

Up the BUCS. PSL - stands for Pirates Soccer League and whoever who had doubts about this yesterday's victory confirms my statement.

My humble plea to the chairperson is to allow our technical team to continue for the next coming seasons, if it is not broken why do you fix it?

Once a Pirate always a Pirate. Happy People forever and the admirers will continue to eat humble pies.

I am proud of the boys and there was no any other place to clinch it but Kwesika Minzela Isigodi ( the home of the Buccaneers).

I am a champion and not a holder of an UMBRELLA.

The standard of SA Football

What do you make of the standard of football in the Premier Soccer League?? Has it improved or it's moving backward?

I think it has really improved if you could count the number of goals being scored every week and the quality, not just tap ins but real goals… Mzansi football is getting there… example; the Mamelodi Sundowns vs Ajax Cape Town 4-4 game… that’s for me the match of the season, and of course you judge the match by the number of goals scored, goals are created in the field of play, quality passing and skill leads to goals, number and the beauty of long rage strikes is the beauty of football.

By Bongwe Masiza

Out of all the games played whole season we still rave the Ajax Cape Town vs. Kaizer Chiefs game ko Cape Town stadium was the best. Surely that should tell you about our standards... yes there fields have improved of course.

By Xilla Tutu

The standard has improved just a bit from d nineties. Your player’s tactical awareness, ability to play according to instructions, ability to play different systems and adapting to different set of play has improved but the level its not yet close to where it should be. The standard of our league financially is way high but the quality of our football is way low but improving.

By CManga BigDaddy Makhubu

I think it has really improved and it’s more exciting... There are no longer big teams and small teams now. Look at the league title race for instance; it’s come to the last game to deciding the league champs… the competition gets tougher every season.

By Busisiwe Nkosazana Sijora

The standard is still pathetic... players are missing more than they score at this level, most of the games are still not entertaining, the so called small teams are still only coming to live only if playing against the so called big teams... Ajax Cape Town beat Chiefs 1 nil today and go and lose 3 nil against Maritzburg United! Players are getting onto the referees book more than they should, for stupid but not football reasons! I think PSL is overrated, lots of people are fooled, and I am NOT......

By Kingpin Lesejane

Referees are donating cards 4 weak fouls... headless defenders make stupid fouls... Lucky Lekgwathi just kicks the ball up field... Richard Henyekane can’t trap... Mandla Masango can’t raise his head... Lehlohonolo Majoro a self-confessed cow... then 8 pathetic goals are scored through defensive errors and lapse of concentration, including a goal where a defender watched a player just stroll past him to score an easy goal, which, 2 prove that South African fans and media are as pathetic as the on-field play, that goal is nominated goal of the season, patheticians rave over that match...SIES!

I only saw 2 good teams this season, Ajax Cape Town and Kaizer Chiefs... luckily Mamelodi Sundowns are already out of the title, otherwise we would have celebrated a title from amateurism, should Orlando Pirates win the league; this will be perfect proof that our football is k@k!

Nike and Barcelona launch new kit

For the start of the 2011-2012 season Barcelona will play in a new home and away kit featuring a modern aesthetic while remaining faithful to the club’s most distinctive patterns and club history.

The body of the home shirt features the iconic burgundy and blue stripe know around the world with eleven stripes embolden on the shirt for the first time. On the inside collar of the shirt a graphic bears the motto “Tots unit fem força” (“All together, we are strong”), which is taken from Barcelona’s club anthem.

The Barcelona away kit will be a bold black creating a new and fresh statement for away fixtures. The black shirt features a distinctive black and grey graphic on the shoulder reminiscent of the Catalan flag, the “Senyera”.

While the history and tradition of the club is present in the shirt design, the new kits are made from Nike’s ground-breaking recycled polyester – which for the first time includes both the shirt and shorts.

Each complete kit is made up of up to thirteen reclaimed plastic water bottles. This new manufacturing process reduces energy consumption by up to 30% compared to manufacturing traditional polyester and saves nearly 100 million plastic water bottles from being dumped at landfill sites.

The home shorts are blue and carry a distinctive burgundy line down each side with the uniform completed by blue socks and the letters “FCB” in yellow at the back of each calf. While the away shorts are black and will feature the letters “FCB” in yellow at the back of each calf.

The light weight kits (13% lighter than previous versions) actively regulate the players’ body temperatures on the pitch to help keep them dry and cool at all times through use of Nike Dri-FIT technology. This technology draws sweat away from the player’s body through the material where it can evaporate. Temperature regulation is helped by ventilation zones, consisting of hundreds of tiny laser cut holes from the under arms to the waistband, allowing air to circulate to help keep players dry, cool and comfortable.

The shirt has a new aerodynamic fit this season, now slimmer and more athletic, providing 17% more stretch than the Barcelona shirt of two years ago. While a bonded hem offers a streamlined look that reduces irritation caused by chafing.

To complement the new match day kits Nike has launched a unique Barcelona line of training and lifestyle clothing for both players and fans to wear on and off pitch.

Featuring the symbols and heritage that unite the club and fans the new lifestyle wear includes rugby jerseys and N98 jacket emboldened with “Barca” in gold. A t-shirt will also bear the FC Barcelona badge as a beating heart made up of blue and red laces to express club support.

The kit and extended line is available for pre-order from May 18 and will be available in South African stores from mid-July. For more information visit nikefootball.com and nikemedia.com for kit and player images.

The feeling of Camacho joining Sundowns

Now, the question is how much is known about José Antonio Camacho. And will he be the right coach for Mamelodi Sundowns if he gets hired for 2011/12 season?

There is never going to be the right coach until Motsepe wakes up or sell this club. It’s beyond ridiculous working under such conditions 10 players in 5 out every season. Constant interference from Trott and Makhanya with the technical team. We have players who have little hunger to win anything and everyone else is just on gravy train.

By Tumi Mrsdowns MacPhoshoko

If Camacho can bring the style and flair that Sundowns played by the time of Screamer; Ted Dumitru & Dolezar I will be happy.

By Simphiwe 'Gabhela' Ndubela

Eish im tired of these European coaches. Isn’t there any1 better locally who can take over?

By Phil Makobela

@ Tumi, I agree with you fully. This team is going nowhere as long as Makhanya and Moloto are still there. I feel sorry 4 that coach, he won't last a season. Please Motsepe go and buy Blue Bulls and leave soccer alone nxa.

By Rebecca Theledi

Lets give Gorowa another chance, given necessary support the man can do wonders to the club. Yeah the management needs some serious overhaul; some of them are jealous and their continued undermining of Gorowa has cost us.

By Justice Kgoale

Its a waste of money and time the team must go back to its original owners Krok brothers, and the Ticklas family, how many coaches has been hired under the current regime, how many trophies?? How many players have been brought to the team??? How many players have left, how much money has been spent???

By Julian Molekwa

Also @ Sundowns players whom a youth are loaned and keep those are old they will never win the league. For those who favoured Sundowns it’s painful. The team is depriving the fans PRIDE.

By Simphiwe 'Gabhela' Ndubela

I get all your points guys but one thing is 4 sure, if we don’t give the coaches enough time and support to build a team 4 us, we not going anywhere. How many coaches have spent two full seasons at Chloorkop? Stop buying unnecessarily until de coach arrives.

By Thokozani Mhlanga

Motsepe want da best for the team, let’s appreciate this coz Sundowns is a team of legends so he’s trying everywhere to bring the pride back.... no local coach can handle Sundowns it’s a fact, I welcome da man but I heard about Jose Manuel sometimes this season, what happened with him?

By Gabriel Makgoba

I'm gatvol what our management is doing. We are the laughing stock of SA. When was the last time we won some silverware? They buy every tom and d!ck in the market. Walter, Makhanya, Trott and Joan must all GO we don't need them at our team. Sundowns it’s not a charity organization where everybody works there. Motsepe must leave… we don’t want his money.

By Yvonne Raseroka

Coaches maybe changed, but till the players start to respect the ball and dances with it on the field, then we shall hit SA by storms. Let the guy continue coaching... The problem here is the players, let’s fire them all and buy new once. You will see that my point is actually valid.

By Nhlanhla G Ndumgazi

Krol should be Coach of the Season

Ok my team Orlando Pirates won and for me that makes Ruud Krol the coach of the season, three cup finals in one season plus a very serious league contention - what more can we ask for?

Surely he deserves it plus a few more years with us and it's good to see a live Duku-Duku (Joseph Makhanya), he together with Denis Onyango must be in our camp come next season (2011/12).

But on the same note… sometimes a first touch including a decision making to a core of our attacking players are very questionable, for example; every time Isaac Chansa holds the ball it goes up causing a delay which makes an opponent to dispossess it.

Mark Mayambela - it's clear that it will take time for him to score so why can’t he play just like Andile Jali since he's a very good ball passer and lastly Ndumiso Mabena’s positioning is terrible if there was a Thulasizwe Mbuyane we could have won it in a much easier way (Aces vs. Pirates) - all in all these are job costing errors to coaches, well done to Krol for awarding Bongani Ndulula a start as the more games he starts the better.

Mr. Motsepe please sell Sundowns

You know it hurts so much to know that Patrice Motsepe owns Mamelodi Sundowns, please don’t get me wrong, but under this man Downs has become the shadow of its self, damn man were did it all go wrong? Do you still remember Sundowns of the 90's were winning was our culture, eish!

Gone are those days when Sundowns was unstoppable, but now things are bad...it is all about the salaries these players are getting...e kae shoe shine n piano ya bo Roger Fetumba, Alex Bapela, Daniel 'Mambush' Mudau, Joas "Apla" Magolego and others.

Hai! The more I talk about this the more I feel the pain. Mr. Motsepe please sell back Sundowns to the people who knew what football is. I mean the Tsichlas family because with you hai! Sundowns is going nowhere.

Coach please believe in yourself

I am a Bloemfontein Celtic fan, I love my club but I am a bit worried: In the first half of the season. It was clear that Celtic can chase for the title but it lacked depth. They played, but three to four injuries would set them off completely.

During the window period our coach (Clinton Larsen) didn’t beef up the squad, I was wondering what’s wrong with this guy, before Celtic didn't had a good sponsor but now?

Not complaining though. During one of the interview, in January, I heard him saying at least if he can challenge for the top five, I was sitting there thinking WHAT - you are in a position to chase for the title and you target top five, what’s up?

And then we drew some matches at Seisa Ramabodu that even today I still wonder why did we actually drew them. Bidvest Wits, Maritzburg United and etc.

You can clearly see the man doesn't wanna chase for the title... aowa bazalwana! My coach suffers from inferiority complex, the man can do it. He just needs to believe, we believe in him. He just needs to believe in himself.

We need a new manager at Sundowns

Who do we blame when a team that has two strikers on 11 and 13 goals drops out of a league race?

Clearly the players are doing their bit, clearly the shareholders are providing funds to run the club, and so who do we blame? It has to be the management at Kloorkop.

Mr. Patrice Motsepe needs new, young and vibrant management with fresh ideas to realise our dream of dominating Africa. Our current management is old, rigid and out of ideas.

I mean how you expect the communications manager who started using PC's and ipads at an age of 50 to realize the benefits of keeping a website up to date, having facebook and twitter profiles?

Mr. Alex Shakoane is using the old loudspeaker mentality on the computer age generation in his portfolio and this is one of the examples of how out of date our management is.

Kaizer Chiefs is not average

When my chairman (Mr Kaizer Motaung) used Mamelodi Sundowns as an example to stress his point of saying money doesn't always buy success.

I think it was a fair & harmless comparison. Yes we need quality in our team but that can't be accomplished overnight.

People use Mameldi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates when they talk about buying quality but the same can't be done when the very same so called quality doesn't bring results like it's a case at both them.

Where is Sundowns now wt their big expenditure? We're neck & neck wt Pirates wt all their so called stars. People must not throw stones when they live in glass houses. If we're going to compare our to Sundowns on its positive, we must also make the same comparisons on the negatives as well.

Why is it right so say Sundowns is buying quality players but wrong to say that the very same quality is not bringing results?

Yes I agree my team needs to beef up but my team is not a mediocre people make it to be. Khosi 4 ever.

THE LAB: How to build a football brain

The most important component of modern day football is the BRAIN. The brain is only built through a process called learning, which is guided by a process called teaching.

Learning is something the brain is always doing every micro second & teaching is only used to make the learning process more directed and efficient.

In order for us to be able to teach a football brain we need to have proper understanding of the learning process. The biggest problem with the learning process is that it can inhibit itself from being constructive, for instance the biblical teachings of Galileo Galilei's time where inhibiting religious people from being able to understand the possibility of the world being round.

From Galileo's situation we can deduce that before we can start on building the football brain you have to understand what inhibits the learning process first and these inhibitors are of tern injected in us from society as psychological berries. People in general grow in a society that teaches them more about there weaknesses instead of strengths, so a result the brain inherits a lot inhibitors.

The biggest inhibitor is the belief that there is a different between a scientific mind & a creative mind, while in fact they are one & the same thing, as human we are born with both & are capable of learning anything we want to learn, society is just good at creating the illusion of being incapable.

In my planned Football Academy the first 2 months would be focused on rehabilitating the football brain & helping the players understand themselves as both artists & scientists, there will be no football related training.

I will be teaching players how to read and play music, and I will also teach them engineering based workouts like solving rubik's cube. As soon a players understand the fundamentals of the learning process & there limitless capabilities we will move into the next stage where we work of there passing abilities.

Prof Matwetwe

Open letter to Kaizer Chiefs Management

Dear Kaizer Chiefs Executive Management

I am writing the letter as an ordinary Kaizer Chiefs Football Club supporter to Kaizer Chiefs Management in response of the press conference held on the 04/05/2011.

Mr. Motaung senior wanted to know what quality is, under ordinary circumstances I will not respond to such a question because he played football with the likes of Ace, Teenage, and many other super stars; but for your benefit Mr. K quality players in your team will be Itu Khune, Tau, Masenamela, Isaacs, Nengomasha, Letsholonyane, Tshabalala, Dladla, Musona, Nale, & Yende. The rest of the players are either not good enough, youngsters who are not yet ready or players who have past their best.

Mr Motaung further says clubs are not willing to sell their players, I say nonsense; for the right price almost everything is up for sale including PSL clubs themselves never mind the players. Are PSL clubs not willing to sell their players when Chiefs is buying?

When Pirates and Sundowns are buying then they are suddenly prepared to sell. My guess is PSL clubs are willing to sell for the right price, Mr. Motaung doesn’t want to part with cash and clubs will not settle for peanuts that he together with Bobby are offering. You want quality you have to spend money period.

I agree that is not always about buying players, but how else will you get quality players if you have a non existence development structure and scouting team Mr K?

Super teams like FC Barcelona scouts for exceptional talent at an early age and develops it, the likes of Messi, and go out to the Market and supplement that with buying quality like David Villa. A big team like Kaizer Chiefs should be competing with Ahly, Zamalek, TP Mazembe, and Enyimba in the Champions League every season; not fighting for position four with Celtic and losing to a team from Zone 14 (Baroka FC) with Popeye and Spinach in the Nedbank Cup.

We need a strong Chiefs, Pirates and Sundowns season in season out for us to have a strong Bafana Bafana. When Pirates were champions in Africa in 1995 Bafana was Champions in Africa in 1996, FC Barcelona is dominating European club Football, Spain is European and World Champions, Ahly is dominating African football and Egypt are three times African nations champions. This is no coincidence, but when players are winning from a club level, they will also win on an international stage.

VV has done well I agree, what else is he expected to do with average players like Ngcobo, Ncanana, Masango, Sonqwigi, Nahayo, and Sibeko. Give the coach quality players and let’s see where he can take the team. Buy quality like Darren Keet, Morgan Gould, Sangweni, Pelembe, Cale, Tresor Mputu, Serero to compliment the like of Shaba, and Musona.

How do you say that Chiefs is a giant of football in Africa if we have never won a single Champions league trophy and for the past 19 years we have won only two league titles? We are just an ordinary team that used to be dominant in the yesteryears when football was still amateur.

Many Thanks and Kind Regards
Lehlogonolo Caswell Makaepea

24 Hour Crime Prevention Throughout Football

CAPE TOWN – “A child in sports is a child out of court” opened the Provincial Minister of Community Safety, Mr. Albert Fritz, at the 24 Hour Crime Prevention Football Event that was hosted by AMANDLA EduFootball on Saturday, 30 April in Khayelitsha.

The event saw more than 1500 active participants and 1500 spectators pass through the gates in order to participate in or watch one of the 292 football games that were played throughout the
course of the event.

The 24 hours of football, fun & education aimed to create awareness surrounding the importance of crime prevention initiatives in South Africa. The Provincial Minister emphasised in his speech that more such projects are needed in South Africa: “We need this in all our townships – an opportunity for youngsters to take part in sports, so that we can change youngsters into good footballers, good sports persons instead of criminals. I applaud AMANDLA EduFootball for their initiative.”

The morning of the event was dedicated to the youngest participants, the Under 13 boys, followed by the Junior and Senior girls who played through the afternoon and then the Under 16 Boys competing in the early evening.

The youth tournaments were followed by the Men’s Open Tournament, starting at around 22h00 and concluding with a spectacular final at 09h30 the next morning.

The event was further supported by the Executive Mayor of Cape Town, Dan Plato, who found motivating words for the participants and encouraged them to push through the long day of football. A highlight of the day was the visit of Bafana Bafana player Thembinkosi “Terror“ Fanteni and AJAX Cape Town player Sonwabile Lolo, a local success story from Khayelitsha. As the football stars assisted with the award ceremony for the Under 13 Boys, the smiling eyes spoke for themselves. It was obvious that receiving their medals from one of their big idols was by far the biggest prize the young boys could have imagined.

Altogether the 24 Hour Crime Prevention Football Event was a great success due to the participants’ unwavering commitment to make a change for the better in their community as well as the dedication of all other partners involved in this event.

A big thank you goes out to all the sponsors -to Shoprite who fed 500 hungry participants with their mobile soup kitchen, to Peninsula Beverages who entertained thousands of kids and spectators throughout the day with their Coca Cola truck as well as sponsoring drinks for the event, to Umbro for putting a lot of smiles on the faces of participants by sponsoring the prizes for all age categories as well as Macs products for contributing 120 medals to honour the participants, to Mike’s Sports for sponsoring the trophies and to PicknPay for their generous food voucher that allowed AMANDLA to provide hot soup and coffee to the Men’s Tournament participants throughout a long night of football.

About AMANDLA EduFootball:

AMANDLA EduFootball is a South African Non-Profit Organisation that provides educational football programmes to children and youth with destabilised, traumatic and/or non-existing family and community structures in Cape Town. Blowing hot and cold cost us the Premiership

To play at Kaizer Chiefs for more than 3 seasons and still have "areas of improvement" doesn't cut it for me. Mandla Masango has been playing top flight for too long and honestly as a Chiefs die-hard disciple I'm tired of watching him missing/squandering at least 3 clear cut chance per match.

The Mamelodi Sundowns match was a clear indication of such and when I said it before the match my friend who was watching with me disagreed until we counted after the match the 3 clear-cut chances he squandered including the miss. Now how does one forgive that??? I'm tired of making excuses for South African players. They need to lift their game and take their careers seriously.

Next it's Josta Dladla, what did Dladla do on the day that warrants his praises except for giving the ball away cheaply and missing clear-cut chances. Were at point were we're playing a "cup finals" to win the league. Next thing we'll be saying the coach must be axed and forgetting the players who caused us this harm. Dladla was completely off form and keeping him in the game past half time still puzzles me.

I hardly even saw him in the opposition half past the 60th minute but yet we still had Elias Pelembe scoring from our left wing where he and Jimmy Tau were nowhere to be found.

This match was a "must win" for us and to substitute Sthembiso Ngcobo didn't make sense for me if we needed to go on an all out attack. I would have rather asked Punch Masenamela to stay up to the halfway line and relinquished the attacking duties to Siphiwe “Shabba” Tshabalala so he can whip the crosses in for Ngcobo and the loose balls to be picked up by Knowledge Musona.

Poor Musona had to go up to the half way line to collect the ball on the day and eventually got frustrated and almost injured the Sundowns goalie out of desperation. I don't even want to speak about Reneilwe “Yeye” Letsholonyane who hardly made a telling pass to our front line. He spent the night defending too deep and that's where I would have rather let Tinashe Nengomasha do the defensive duties assisting the centre backs.

I can live with our debutants' mistake on Mphela since he's a new recruit and is still trying to get accustomed to playing top flight against solid oppositions. For Christ’s sake that boy still has 3 solid years of being in the Chiefs' Black and Gold but overall apart from him error he did well.

I cannot for the life of me forgive Dladla and Masango whom I've completely lost patience with. I'm tired of him blowing hot and cold for this long playing top flight football. No ways!!!! Like one great player said "playing for Chiefs is not like playing for any other team" Here we demand results and we can only accept the best and these boys have failed.

I remember how even in the junior ranks at Chiefs every match you played was a make or break. Failing which you'd find yourself training with no game time.

These boys must learn. The one way to get a player to up his game is letting him watch from the stands - FINISH AND KLAAR! Alex Ferguson did it with Wayne Rooney, Capello did it with David Beckham, Dunga did it with Ronaldinho, Mike Ntombela did it with Mooketsi (The Kets) Sere and there's nothing stopping these guys from them suffering the same fate.

That Thomas 'Rambo' Sweswe is also skating on thin ice. I'm tired of him doing a difficult job easy and an easy job difficult. His last pass is always going to the opposition. He should watch Lucas Radebe's old tapes on what a defender does after winning the ball or better still watch Barcelona play!

Yes - every team will tell you it's not easy to play against Chiefs due to the psychological advantage they get through their fans, but Baroka FC showed them that when you give little respect to your opposition you get results.

I'm not budging - these boys better start learning. You can't miss more than 10 chances in a season and not do anything about it.

The Reds waya waya!

The passionate family about soccer!

The team was founded in December 2008. In their opening game, they were crowned runner's up of the top 8 tournament in Sekhung village, Senwabarwana, in Limpopo province. The team played their first game with a borrowed kit from another team.

MOSIMA UNITED FC
Back row: (from left to right) Kgabo Kgare (CM), Norman Mapaya (RB), Aubrey Meso (striker), Tlou Kgare (Goalkeeper), Martins Seepa (Goalkeeper), George (LW), Molatelo Mapaya (CM), Motlatso Kgare (RW) and Alex Kgare (LB).

Front row: (from left to right) Chris (CD) and Molatelo Maapola (LW), Vincent Kgare (Striker), Rubza Mohale (striker), Teenage Maapola (CM) and Pepper Kgare (RB).

The team was named after the players grandmother; Mosima Anna Mapaya… the team plays during holidays since most of the players are staying in Gauteng and Limpopo province.

Players keep themselves fit by training and participating in the teams around their provinces.

After their successful first tournament on the 13th Decemmber 2008, the players gathered together and purchased a soccer kit of their own.

Unfortunately for the team, they lost in the first game of the tournament in Letswatla Village during Easter holidays…

Open letter to the Boys

After our loss to Supersport United my habits haven’t been the same, the smile on my face has lost its glow and the appetite in my belly has been swallowed up by the intestines...

We may have lost our place at the top of the league but in my heart, you guys are still tops!

Let’s not feel disgruntled by the comments, illustrations in various newspaper and the tags that have been given to us – they do nothing for us!

I say ‘arise’ Maghebula let’s continue showing that fighting spirit that got us on top of the PSL league table and don’t let this loss affect our brilliant season…

Plus you all may know that in soccer there are fans and supporters – I’m glad to be a supporter of Orlando Pirates – win or lose, I’m there with you.

The fans have been talking of a treble but once we lost to Matsatsantsa they speak of a useless season, let’s give them something to talk about by winning our remaining games and showing that ‘Black and White’ spirit that has seen us through it all.

This is our season - let’s play and enjoy it fully!

Nike unveils Arsenal FC 125th Anniversary Kit

The Arsenal home shirt for the 2011-12 season features a new bespoke crest that marks the club’s 125th anniversary year – and looks forward to the club’s next chapter as the most environmentally-friendly kit Nike has ever produced.

Founded in Woolwich in 1886 and called The Royal Arsenal, the celebratory crest design combines the graphic of the first club crest with the current version in a bold white print and carries the anniversary dates of 1886 and 2011 on the heart of the shirt.

Underneath the celebratory crest sits the word ‘FORWARD’ as a tribute to the club’s first motto.

The classic design is inspired by the 1970’s strips and boasts a clean, refined look with a block red body and white sleeves with red speed stripe detail. The shorts are white with a red speed stripe and the white socks carry the club’s founding year 1886 on the back of the fabric.

On the back of the shirt below the neck reads ‘’Arsenal’, while inside the front, on the back of the crest, is a graphic that reads ‘Victoria Concordia Crescit’, (‘Victory Through Harmony’), Arsenal’s Latin motto, which was previously featured on earlier versions of their club crest between 1949 and 2002.

The shirt has a new aerodynamic fit this season, now slimmer and more athletic, providing 17% more stretch than the Arsenal shirt of two years ago. While a bonded hem offers a streamlined look that reduces irritation caused by chafing.

To compliment the new match day kit Nike has launched a unique Arsenal line of training and lifestyle clothing for both players and fans to wear on and off the pitch.

The kit and extended line is available for pre-order from May 2 and will be available in stores from June 9. For more information visit nikefootball.com and nikemedia.com for shirt and player images.

Trust Orlando Pirates not to break your heart?

Watching Ajax Cape Town coming back from trailing 1-0 to AmaZulu and actually winning their game 2-1 Friday night made me look forward to the Orlando Pirates versus SuperSport United game, which didn't fail to entertain.

Well, it seems as though Pirates winning the league was more of a fantasy than reality. Don't get me wrong, Pirates have done well this season and other seasons that passed and they are still in it, but then its all depending on hope that Ajax slip up and they don't really look like a side that would do just that anytime soon.

You can tell the world you never was my girl
You can burn my clothes when I'm gone
Or you can tell your friends just what a fool I've been
And laugh and joke about me on the phone

You can tell my arms to go back onto the phone
You can tell my feet to hit the floor
Or you can tell my lilps to tell my fingertips
They won't be reaching out for you no more

Remember Billy Ray Cyrus' Achy breaky heart? Orlando Pirates is more of that to its fans. Its like a girlfriend that one showers with lots of love and gifts but then when it matters most disappoints you and leave you hanging on a thread broken hearted. I watched on TV as fans poured their tears in distress, did it mean they stopped hoping?

But don't tell my heart, my achy breaky heart
I just don't think it'd understand
And if you tell my heart, my achy breaky heart
He might blow up and kill this man
Ooo

Gavin Hunt during a post match interview shared a soft moment with the interviewer by wishing Foppe De Haan (Ajax Cape Town coach) luck. Gavin Hunt and his charges cleared De Haan's path by sweeping Orlando Pirates off the top of the table and now its in the hands of Ajax Cape Town to lose.

Is Irvin Khoza contemplating firing Ruud Krol at the end of the season? They are stalling with contract renewals and maybe they are just waiting in patience to see how the season ends before making any hasty decisions. The fans were introduced to new terms this season and everyone talking about the possibility
of a trebble. Football is a very funny games, a field of broken dreams indeed and most of the times it is the fans who are left to pick up the pierces.

A foul on Mabena was enough to claim a penalty, but as usual the refereeing in the PSL has never been in point. Pirates have lost it at the end for quiet some time now and they really need an appeaser for the fans. There is still the Nedbank Cup, but it wouldn't have much impact to the fans as the league. The league has eluded Pirates for more than a decade now and the team sure needs
vindication.

But don't tell my heart, my achy breaky heart
I just don't think it'd understand
And if you tell my heart, my achy breaky heart
He might blow up and kill this man
Ooo

But don't tell my heart, my achy breaky heart
I just don't think it'd understand
And if you tell my heart, my achy breaky heart
He might blow up and kill this man
Ooo

Very dissapointed fans indeed, but then a lot of unrealistic goals have been set for the team. The team would need a serious pick me up after tonight, but then Ajax look to be more on the edge than Pirates. Like I like to say, may the best team lift the PSL Cup....

Don't tell my heart, my achy breaky heart
He might blow up and kill this man
Ooo

Don't tell my heart, my achy breaky heart
He might blow up and kill this man
Ooo
