Open letter to Kaizer Chiefs Management

Written By Unknown on Saturday, May 7, 2011 | Saturday, May 07, 2011

Dear Kaizer Chiefs Executive Management

I am writing the letter as an ordinary Kaizer Chiefs Football Club supporter to Kaizer Chiefs Management in response of the press conference held on the 04/05/2011.

Mr. Motaung senior wanted to know what quality is, under ordinary circumstances I will not respond to such a question because he played football with the likes of Ace, Teenage, and many other super stars; but for your benefit Mr. K quality players in your team will be Itu Khune, Tau, Masenamela, Isaacs, Nengomasha, Letsholonyane, Tshabalala, Dladla, Musona, Nale, & Yende. The rest of the players are either not good enough, youngsters who are not yet ready or players who have past their best.

Mr Motaung further says clubs are not willing to sell their players, I say nonsense; for the right price almost everything is up for sale including PSL clubs themselves never mind the players. Are PSL clubs not willing to sell their players when Chiefs is buying?

When Pirates and Sundowns are buying then they are suddenly prepared to sell. My guess is PSL clubs are willing to sell for the right price, Mr. Motaung doesn’t want to part with cash and clubs will not settle for peanuts that he together with Bobby are offering. You want quality you have to spend money period.

I agree that is not always about buying players, but how else will you get quality players if you have a non existence development structure and scouting team Mr K?

Super teams like FC Barcelona scouts for exceptional talent at an early age and develops it, the likes of Messi, and go out to the Market and supplement that with buying quality like David Villa. A big team like Kaizer Chiefs should be competing with Ahly, Zamalek, TP Mazembe, and Enyimba in the Champions League every season; not fighting for position four with Celtic and losing to a team from Zone 14 (Baroka FC) with Popeye and Spinach in the Nedbank Cup.

We need a strong Chiefs, Pirates and Sundowns season in season out for us to have a strong Bafana Bafana. When Pirates were champions in Africa in 1995 Bafana was Champions in Africa in 1996, FC Barcelona is dominating European club Football, Spain is European and World Champions, Ahly is dominating African football and Egypt are three times African nations champions. This is no coincidence, but when players are winning from a club level, they will also win on an international stage.

VV has done well I agree, what else is he expected to do with average players like Ngcobo, Ncanana, Masango, Sonqwigi, Nahayo, and Sibeko. Give the coach quality players and let’s see where he can take the team. Buy quality like Darren Keet, Morgan Gould, Sangweni, Pelembe, Cale, Tresor Mputu, Serero to compliment the like of Shaba, and Musona.

How do you say that Chiefs is a giant of football in Africa if we have never won a single Champions league trophy and for the past 19 years we have won only two league titles? We are just an ordinary team that used to be dominant in the yesteryears when football was still amateur.

Many Thanks and Kind Regards
Lehlogonolo Caswell Makaepea
