Who is my Legend???

Written By Themba Khumalo on Friday, November 28, 2008 | Friday, November 28, 2008

I’ve realised that no list I could ever pile up would be finished of great players. Not even if I decided to include another 20 or even 50 more soccer players. There are simply so many great legends eMzansi to have played the beautiful game over the years; in different positions, and in different eras. It is simply impossible for any list to be the ultimate list of all time. This list of 25 players is one that myself, and my educated friends put together. We are building a legend’s list – please put the name of a legend you think deserves to be in our Diskioff Legends list.

Remember these Legends baf’wethu:
• Patrick "Ace" Ntsoelengoe
• Ephraim "Shakes" Mashaba
• Doctor “16v” Khumalo
• Thomas “Who’s Fooling Who?” Hlongwane
• Peter Balac
• Jomo "Black Prince of South African Soccer" Sono
• Nelson "Teenage" Dladla
• Vusi "Computer" Lamola,
• Jingles Perreira
• Joel "Ace" Mnini
• Sylvester "City" Kole
• Marks "Go man go" Maponyane
• Johannes "Ryder" Mofokeng
• Leonard "Wagga Wagga" Likoebe
• Neil "Mokoko" Tovey
• Kaizer “Chincha Guluva” Motaung
• Suliman "Bump-jive" Bhamjee
• Bonginkosi "Ace" Mnikathi
• Vusi "Maria Maria" Lamola
• Samuel "Ewee" Kambuli
• Mike "Tsetse Fly" Ntombela
• Dumisane "Richman" Ngubane
• Joseph "Banks" Setlhodi
• Joel "Fire" Faya
• Simon "Bull" Lehoko

Please put the names in the COMMENT section:
Kind Regards,

Proffesor Khumalo

Hi. I've found this site searching on the web.
My name is Fabio and I'm an italian guy.
I knew that in the earlier 90ies an italian goalkeeper called Marco di Giovampolo (or similar) has been playing for Orlando Pirates. Does anyone know something more about him? Real name, his former teams, and so on?
Thanks to all.

For some reason unbeknown to me, all the published list missed five great contributors to our game, namely, Thomas Ngobe, Slow Masuku,Herbert Man on Man Leroke, Isaac Chirwa and Chris Rollaway Ndlovu. Oh, let's add Stanley Screamer Tshabalala, Smiley Moosa, his son Zane including Deshi Baktawa, also Vincent Tanti Julius. Aach! Mzantsirites, this list is endless. Thank you for taking us down memory lane! Who amongst you nostalgists recalls that beautiful team from Pimville? The Skom boys? Pimville United Brothers? I do.

Please allow me to add these guys, Isaac Manyaka,Johannes Search Modise,Toy Ramosa, Richard Litre Lata, Junior Ngobe.
