Jabu
“Shuffle” Mahlangu is set to return to top flight football after completing a
move to SuperSport United until the end of the season.
Mahlangu
has been training with the club since the start of the year and has shown a lot
of progress in training and reserve team games. The immensely talented and
popular Mahlangu has also been involved in the Club’s marketing activities as
Matsatsantsa steadily continue to grow their fan base.
The
former Bafana Bafana international will be available for selection immediately
and is set to make his first appearance for Matsatsantsa in tomorrow’s Absa
Premiership fixture against Platinum Stars at the Lucas Moripe stadium.
"It's
something I'm excited about and now it has finally happened," Mahlangu
said during his signing Tuesday. "I am very lucky because I got a second
chance, at my age. I am happy that
SuperSport has decided to give me another chance because I can see what
the club are trying to do on and off the field. To be part of something with
this growth is exciting to me."
Of
his three-month contract, Mahlangu said he wants to help the club
"grow" regardless of the length of his stay.
"I
don't expect to come into this team and play in every single game. I don't
expect to start. I have to work for that," he said. "It is a bonus
they are willing to give me a chance. I've been lucky to be here and will do
everything in my power to help the club in the last stretch of the league and
Cup. I don’t see this as a short-term commitment. It may be short-term with me
as a player, but I’ll be assuming other roles on the longer term with
SuperSport United.”
Cavin
Johnson expressed his delight with the new signing and confidence the inclusion
of Jabu in the squad will motivate the team to move forward.
