Jessica Motaung: Supporters have played a massive role

Marketing Director, Jessica Motaung has paid tribute to the Kaizer Chiefs faithful ahead of the important fixture against Platinum Stars on Sunday, 28 April 2013 in Polokwane.

The Phefeni Glamour Boys will be hoping to consolidate their position on top of the Absa Premiership and continue with their fantastic record that has seen them not losing a game at home since the start of 2012/2013 season.

Marketing Director Jessica Motaung fresh from SoccerExpo in London said that one of the reasons the Glamour Boys are on top of the Absa Premiership has been the supporters.

“The role that the supporters have played is massive this season. They remain the cornerstone of which this wonderful institution was built 43 years ago. They embraced the theme, Reclaiming the Glory! and have inspired the team on the pitch. The mood that we witnessed at Dobsonville Stadium during our emphatic win over Moroka Swallows demonstrated the love they have for the team. They came out in numbers braving the cold weather and we would like to express our gratitude for that.

“There is still a long way to go and we want to take this opportunity to invite them once more on Sunday, 28 April 2013 for the game against Platinum Stars. We know the calibre of the team we are playing against. They have proved time and time again this season that they are no pushovers and will come to Peter Mokaba with all guns blazing,” added Motaung.

Corporate Communications Manager Vina Maphosa whose office has been inundated with calls of support from the Kaizer Chiefs faithful added; “The supporters have shown faith in the team this season. The team conceded first at Moroka Swallows on Saturday, but instead of the supporters dropping their heads they remained positive and supportive of the team - something that rubbed off onto the players on the field of play.

“Peter Mokaba will be painted gold and black on Sunday and the importance of beating Platinum Stars on the stands first can never be over emphasized. There is no question that we have a score to settle with them having lost against them in the first round. The players and supporters alike will be motivated going to this game.

“Preparations at Naturena are going well with the Coach emphasizing the importance of the team keeping their feet on the ground and focused on their game. The hunger at the training ground is palpable in the air. The spirit amongst the players and Technical Team is amazing. When you add the supporters with the mood in the team it makes us unstoppable,” added Maphosa.

The Club has called on supporters to wear the gold jerseys to support the campaign, “Colours are my life” and display love and peace on the stands.

There will be entertainment before and at half time and fans are expected to walk away with prizes courtesy of the Club’s main sponsor, Vodacom. Candy Mokoena, former Tsonga music disco queen, Sepedi folklore and soul music artist, who hails from the Province of Limpopo will be performing at the game.

Kick off for the game is billed for 15h00. Tickets are available at all Computicket and Checkers/Shoprite outlets nationwide.
