Castle
Lager are proud to announce the selected squad for the Castle Lager SuperStars
campaign. The campaign was aimed at unearthing talented footballers who
participated in the SAB League, the fourth tier of South African Football. The
selected squad will assemble on Sunday 6 January at the Stellenbosch Academy of
Sport under head coach and ex Bafana Bafana captain Neil Tovey.
Castle
Lager Ambassadors Neil Tovey, Philemon Masinga and John Moshoeu played a
pivotal role throughout the selection process as they added valuable insight
and experience in assisting the scouting teams in the search for the best
talent across the nine Provinces. The players were selected from the 27 000
participants in the SAB League across 53 SAFA regions giving opportunity for
youngsters in far flung corners of the country to be considered.
Throughout
the process the scouting teams were assisted by Amisco Sports Analysis Services
who implemented a sophisticated tracking system whereby every player who
featured in the Provincial playoffs were monitored, tracked and their
statistics made available to the scouting teams during the selection process.
This technology is very powerful and Castle Lager is proud to have worked with
Amisco to bring this level of analysis to bear on the selection process.
What
follows will be an intensive two week training camp to be held in Stellenbosch
and Pretoria with the players coming together on Sunday 6th of January at the
Stellenbosch Academy of Sport to begin their potential path to stardom.
The
players will be exposed to a life of a professional footballer as they will
undergo intensive training under professional supervision. They will also be
subjected to physical testing, sports psychology, nutritional programs and
life-skills programmes that will prove highly beneficial to their development.
Finally,
the squad will be prepared and conditioned to play friendly matches against
Ajax Cape Town, Vasco da Gama, Tuks and SuperSport United with coaches and
scouts from Premier Soccer League and National First Division in attendance.
Here they will have an opportunity to impress and hopefully land a professional
contract which can herald the start of a career as a professional footballer.
We
are confident that we have selected 16 players with tremendous potential and
that from this group of talented footballers we will unearth a footballing hero
of tomorrow.
It
all comes together with a CASTLE.
