Following
a meeting this morning, the Premier Soccer League (PSL) Chairman, Dr Irvin
Khoza has confirmed that the Telkom Knockout final scheduled for tomorrow night
will go ahead as planned.
Dr
Khoza also announced that the Absa Premiership fixtures will also go ahead
tonight and on Sunday.
“All
PSL and NFD matches will, between now and the day before the funeral be
dedicated to our nation’s first democratic President Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela.
On the day of his funeral, there will be no PSL nor NFD matches played,” Dr
Khoza said.
“All
the scheduled fixtures will remain the same. However, in an event of a
scheduled match venue for an Absa Premiership fixture being used for an
official memorial service, that fixture will be rescheduled,” the PSL Chairman
added.
There
will be a moment of silence in honour of Madiba at all PSL matches from tonight
until the funeral. The PSL has asked all the clubs to wear a black arm-band.
