Suggestion: Lets ALL become National Team Coaches

Written By Unknown on Thursday, April 14, 2011 | Thursday, April 14, 2011

It is really sickening to see the rate at which South Africans seem hell-bent on dictating to Pitso Mosimane on what to do in his job.

Yes, we are allowed to have opinions which may differ to what the national coach sees fit, but why have we taken our "coaching ability (or lack)" to such extremely unsupportive lengths?

It seems every Rob, Rich and Piet wants to dictate to Pitso on whom to select and whom to play. 1st there were calls for the inclusion of the average Matty Pattison, look at him now, is he playing regularly?

Is he consistent? Most importantly, is he national team material? And Pitso has NOT closed the door on any of the players we are shouting for. He gives them a look-in now and then.

Selecting a player and not using him doesnt amount to a waste, the player gets to blend in and understand what is required at that level. You learn better when you are patient.

The Thulani Serero chorus is disturbing. On Marawa's show, instead of praising the coach for taking us from nowhere to number 39, every caller was focused on attacking him for not fielding Serero.

Who is Serero? I'm talking International football here. Im personally a big fan of Serero... but one thing we need to realise is that, at International level, Serero wont face cows like Thapelo Tshilo, Valery Nahayo, Lucky Lekgwathi, Old-John Mabizela etc.

The competition is at a different and higher level. Pitso has re-iterated many times that he's gradually bringing him into the fold, a sensible thing to do with an inexperience player.

If we continue like this,we will create another Siphumelele Bhengu, Excellent Walaza, Daniel Matsau, Siphelel Mthembu etc...

We, as South Africans, are very careless with our talent. One or two good games or even a season doesnt make one a great player.

Lets allow Pitso to do his job or take over the national team then accept responsibility for taking us back where we DONT belong!
