500 Articles of Diskioff

Written By Unknown on Tuesday, February 10, 2009 | Tuesday, February 10, 2009

Greetings Diskioff readers and writers. Today we are celebrating our 500 articles in Diskioff. I just want to say it’s with passion and dedication of fans, writers and the team that we have gone this far. Siyabonga Diskioff faithful.

So I can say its safe to say the CUP is going to Pretoria, but not sure where? Hehe! Supersport United and Mamelodi Sundowns are the two contenders, with Orlando Pirates being the outsiders. They are in **** form, though they didn’t win during the weekend against Santos. I’m impressed by the way they’ve played in these couple of months - Never expected them to be in that position after that bad start in the Premier League. So they're definitely one of the contenders who might spoil the Pretoria Celebrations.

Who will win the Absa Premier League this season? This is a question that soccer loving people eMzansi are asking themselves. When the season started I believed that Golden Arrows will finally TAKE it especially after destroying the KINGS of SA Football (Orlando Pirates, Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns)… I was singing woza eDurban, but the KINGS ended my song before I finished it! It’s funny how we fight especially when our teams are not doing well. Look at Ajax Cape Town? They are now struggling to collect points. Respect to Supersport United as they’ve shown that they won’t give their crown without a fight.

I went to my sangoma kwaZulu Natal this past weekend to look for answers and he was also bamboozled on which team will WIN the league. So looking at all the games and the performances I believe that Matsatsantsa or Amakhosi, despite having two bad games in a row - will take it. Remember its only 10 to 13 games to GO!

The league race is more interesting, as always. This cup belongs to Pretoria and that’s where it will remain for another season. Supersport United have shown their intentions of keeping the cup, yet again. They have the team, thanks to the visionary leadership of Ntate Khulu Sibiya. Should they fail to COPE with playing in Africa and defending this premiership, then Mamelodi Sundowns will be there, dark horses as they are to make sure we celebrate, in Pretoria, yet again.

Thanks to the Diskioff crew for paying my bail in time for me to write this piece, I promise never to throw apples at a direction of a bus with supporters of a certain political party ever again. An interesting season of football, much like last season, one thing I have enjoyed this season is that unlike before I have been able to watch and enjoy games that do not involve Orlando Pirates, Kaizer Chiefs or Mamelodi Sundowns.

In any case Pirates seems to perform better in the boardroom fighting for players more than honours, and with a goalkeeper like Senzo Meyiwa, who needs enemies? Chiefs look a bit awakened, thanks to Abia Nale and the foulmouthed Kaizer Motaung Jnr, but still do not send any significant shivers down anyone’s spine.

However Sundowns on the other hand are dishing out the most unattractive football I have ever seen, a far cry from the 44 passes type of game, very, unassuming boring yet very deadly, remember that football like this wins games, hence Gordon Igesund has four league titles under his belt. Then there is Supersport United, they have a habit of winning regularly and occasionally dropping points underline occasionally, based on the above the first two spots on league are going to Pretoria.

The next two spots are going to Soweto; the next two are going to Cape Town. It’s more difficult to predict where the wind is blowing on the relegation side, but Bay United seem to be destined to participate in their second consecutive playoffs, I predict a Celtic vs. Bay playoff final, with Celtic prevailing sending United back to the abyss of the NFD. Thanks to the Diskioff crew for paying my bail in time for me to write this piece.

Mr. Know it ALL

Hey Family... I'm so sorry for being off the radar since the year has begun! I'm so busy at work with deadlines to be met and the Public needing services and all! Anyway, I apologize once again for neglecting my duty as the only Rose among the Thorns of Team Diskioff!!

The League entered into a new playing field this past weekend, what with BOTH previous log leaders, Super Sport United and Ajax Cape Town, being defeated by the not so favoured, relegated bound Teams Thanda Royal Zulu and Celtic respectively! We now have new ferocious contenders for the honour of being called the 2008/2009 Absa Premiership Champions in the form of Chloorkop based Mamelodi Sundowns, Orlando Pirates Football Club, Moroka Swallows and Kaizer Chiefs!

I have been asked to put my head on the block and predict the 2 front runners to be Champions, I've decided on 3. The League will either be won by Pirates, Sundowns or the current champs, Superport United.

The league is still up for grabs. The teams shows hunger and no respect to each other, everyone is good, if you fall someone steps on you to climb higher on your expense, this is where the test of real character of the players comes in. experience is key now, you cannot afford to shake or lose concentration.

Today we DISKIOFF are writing our 500th article, I want this to be special to all Sundowns Fans out there, I put my head on the block, that Mamelodi Sundowns have character and experienced players in the league, and having to lose some of the good players to other teams, the remaining players at Sundowns just want to show everyone what quality they are. I'm simply saying Sundowns will win the league.
