Absa Premiership log-leaders Kaizer Chiefs have even more reason to smile after star striker Bernard Parker and coach Stuart Baxter were among the winners when the announcement of the Q1 and Q2 were made at the PSL offices in Parktown, Johannesburg.

Pitso Mosimane, the Mamelodi Sundowns coach, was another winner on Monday afternoon.

Parker has performed consistently throughout the 2013/2014 season so far and to this point leads the goalscorer chart with 10 goals. His form has certainly not gone unnoticed and he scooped both the Q1 and the Q2 Absa Premiership Player of the Quarter awards walking away with R30 000 for his efforts.

Mamelodi Sundowns superb early season form allowed their coach Mosimane to collect the Absa Coach of the Quarter for Q1 prize with Amakhosi mentor Stuart Baxter collecting the Absa Coach of the Quarter prize inspiring his team to 6 wins in 7 outings during Q2. Both coaches took home R15 000 each.

Convenor of judges Farouk Khan commended the winners on their achievements, and made special note of Parker’s efforts throughout the season. “Parker has proved that he is no flash in the pan by showing the goal-scoring consistency that is required from a top striker and is fully deserves to win the prizes from Absa for the first two quarters of the season,” said the experienced coach.

“It is fitting that Kaizer Chiefs, who have been in such fine form over the past few months, have their coach and striker among the honours but knowing South African football, I am sure that the race for the coveted 2013/2014 Absa Premiership title is gathering momentum,” added Khan.
