2013 until 16 September 2013.
PSL
CEO, Brand de Villiers said: “We associate the MTN8 with excellence – it’s a
tournament that rewards performance and consistency. The 2012/13 edition of the
MTN8 produced some exciting football and saw Moroka Swallows walk away with the
Eight Million Rand cheque after beating SuperSport United in the final played
at the Orlando Stadium on 22 September 2012.
The 2012/13 MTN8 produced 28 goals in the nine matches played at an
average of just over three goals a match.”
“The
2013/14 edition of the MTN8 promises to be even better. This season, we have a
fair mix of favourites and underdogs. The University of Pretoria – a team that
made its debut in the Premier Division only last season – are the surprise
package of this year’s MTN8 competition. This shows that the standard of our
football continues to improve.”
