The Premier Soccer League (PSL) CEO has welcomed Baroka FC and Maluti FET College to the National Soccer League (NSL).

The two clubs were promoted to the National First Division (NFD) this week during the national Second Division Play-offs.

De Villiers said: “I would like to welcome the two new members of the National Soccer League and congratulate both Baroka FC and Maluti FET College for achieving this feat. We are looking forward to working closely with them in the NSL.”

Baroka FC shot to fame during 2011/2012 season following their majestic run in the Nedbank Cup where they became household names. They eventually lost to Black Leopards in the semi-finals of the competition.

Maluti FET College, on the other hand, made their name during last season’s Nedbank Cup when they curved a reputation of being giant killers are beating Orlando Pirates.

The PSL CEO added: “This is a sign that teams in the lower ranks gain a lot of experience by participating in competitions like the Nedbank Cup where they get to test their skills against the best. The case of Baroka and Maluti is testament to that.”
