Premier Soccer League (PSL) CEO, Brand de Villiers has
congratulated National First Division (NFD) winners, Polokwane City and
Promotion Play-Off winners, MP Black Aces for gaining promotion to the Premier
Division.
Following the ruling of the Arbitrator on Wednesday night
in the matter involving Thanda Royal Zulu and Chippa United, both MP Black Aces
and Polokwane City were confirmed as the two clubs promoted to the Absa
Premiership in the 2013/14 season.
Both clubs are no strangers to the elite league: MP Black
Aces were relegated during the 2010/11 season. Polokwane City, previously known
as Bay United, also had a short stint in the Absa Premiership during the
2008/09 season.
On Polokwane City, the PSL CEO said: “After the
relegation of Black Leopards, Limpopo was left without a team in the Premier
Division and with the promotion of Polokwane City, we know that people from
that part of the world will continue to watch top flight football. Their story
is that of overcoming tragedy after they lost four of their players and a few
others injured during a tragic accident in November last year.”
On MP Black Aces, De Villiers said: “I want to
congratulate Mpumalanga Black Aces for being promoted back to the Premier
Division following their impressive season in the National First Division.
Since they were relegated, Mpumalanga has not had a team playing top flight
football. This is another opportunity for the League to reach out to that
community again.”
