Bafana
Bafana head coach Gordon Igesund is hopeful that the latest change in the squad
travelling to the COSAFA Cup tournament in Zambia will be the last.
Platinum
Stars’ Vuyo Mere will not be part of the team as he was announced on Friday, 5
January 2013 before the issue had been finalised with his club. His name was
included during the initial stages of the discussions with Platinum Stars. But
seeing that the club had already given Bafana Bafana four players it was felt
the player should not be part of the travelling party so as not cripple their
(Platinum Stars) preparations.
The
South African Football Association (SAFA) regrets the inconvenience caused to
the club and the player. In Mere’s place Igesund has called up Gladwin Shitolo
of Jomo Cosmos.
The
squad assembles on Wednesday, 10 July 2013.
Meanwhile
defender Bevan Fransman will not be available for the first match on Saturday,
13 June due to club commitments.
Fransman
is expected to line-up for Supersport United against former English champions
Manchester City in a pre-season clash at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Sunday,
14 July. He will fly out to Zambia the next day.
