The real story on why Ronaldo is upset

Written By Unknown on Tuesday, September 4, 2012 | Tuesday, September 04, 2012

The most buzzing soccer news is neither about the poor performance of Johan Neeskens (Mamelodi Sundowns coach) nor Augusto Palacios (Orlando Pirates coach) who all deserve to be dismissed from their respectively teams, but Cristiano Ronaldo and Real Madrid saga are receiving an international attention.

Ronaldo scored twice in the 3-0 Liga win over Granada, but refused to celebrate the goals and later revealed he was unhappy, claiming that the club knew the reasons behind his sadness.

After doing some serious international digging, I have found that;
1. Ronaldo is upset at not having been offered higher wages after leading Madrid to La Liga last term.

2. Lack of more support from the club's hierarchy, especially in the build-up to the FIFA Ballon d'Or, but some big figures at Madrid prefer Iker Casillas to claim the award which hasn't gone down well with CR7.

3. One of the main reasons for the Ronaldo sadness could be that he still has not renewed his contract with Madrid. Madrid and Ronaldo have been long privately negotiating the renewal of his contract, but have not yet reached an agreement.

4. The tax law has changed in Spain, and from now, Ronaldo will be taxed 52 per cent of his salary when before it was only 23%. It’s obvious that he will earn less salary if Real don't improve his salary.

5. Ronaldo is under contract until 2015, and if Madrid renews his contract now, they may have to pay up to €30 million each year while they are paying about €15m now. And they are unwilling to do so - at least not yet.

6. There has been some friction between Ronaldo and Casillas for a long time and I believe Ronaldo feels the club should be backing him wholeheartedly in the race to beat Messi to the Ballon d'Or."

7. CR7 is bitter that Andres Iniesta won the European Player of the Year prize ahead of him but Iniesta was the outstanding performer over the whole competition and deserving of the accolade.

8. CR7 is sad as he has no allies now at Madrid, but it is impossible to leave the club now. If his problems are not solved this season, no one knows whether he will leave next summer. But for now, in Madrid, the information there says that his problem is not because another club has made an offer and wants to sign him."

In Conclusion, The problem with Ronaldo is his price tag if he wants to move away from Madrid. There are only around a handful of clubs in world football who can afford Ronaldo's transfer fee and wages. These are Barcelona, Manchester City, Chelsea, PSG, Anzhi, and potentially some Chinese clubs but Ronaldo is still too young to be transferred to Russia or China, he is such a competitive player that it is hard to imagine him moving to a place out of the limelight.

Media can't stop to speculate about Ronaldo’s future but he is the only one who knows what the next step of his career is.

My Verdict
Ronaldo beef with the team has nothing to do with EURO football of the year accolade won by Andre Iniesta. Ronaldo is not a bad loser but a professional fighter in the field of play but he should leave politics to politicians and let his boots do talking in the field of play.

His problem to me is lack of appreciation of his contribution towards Real Madrid success last season by the team hierarchy. To them, Ike Casilas stood the head and shoulders above Ronaldo. As a Special player Ronaldo deserves to be protected and praised by Real Madrid Top Management but his cry baby tendency is nothing but cheap publicity.
