Diski ya-mampela

Hola Diskioff readers!!!!! Chelsea lost yet again in Stamford Bridge.

Orlando Pirates and Ajax Cape Town book their places in the FINAL of Telkom Knockout Cup. Will Amabhakabhaka end their CUP draught or will it be another sad day for the Soweto giants?

Mzansi referees: Guys I think the referees are always under pressure, but this weekend's refereeing is left much to be desired. Sylvester Ndaba must please teach his referees to be accurate in their judgment.

Anyway I’m proud to say if I had to choose between the FA Premier League and ABSA Premier League. I will proudly choose diski yaMzansi because we have really improved our game. You go to stadiums you find 30 000 fans packing it full and players don’t disappoint. Goals galore every week while playing constructive diski.

What more do we ask for. Now its time we leave our TVs at home and go to stadiums. Mzansi is showcasing diski ya-mampela and we just have to have a winning Caf team from Mzansi once again.

Please guys don’t forget to book your Confederations Cup tickets this early.
Diski ya-Mzansi ya rock and very much entertaining.

Who is my Legend???

I’ve realised that no list I could ever pile up would be finished of great players. Not even if I decided to include another 20 or even 50 more soccer players. There are simply so many great legends eMzansi to have played the beautiful game over the years; in different positions, and in different eras. It is simply impossible for any list to be the ultimate list of all time. This list of 25 players is one that myself, and my educated friends put together. We are building a legend’s list – please put the name of a legend you think deserves to be in our Diskioff Legends list.

Pirates owe its fans

Let me firstly make this point clear. I am Baile and I would like to make it clear that I am not Bayile nor related to him in anyway. I further want to make it clear that I do not believe Chiefs would win the league, given the material (players) they have, unless they dig deep into their pockets come the January open window.

Well what a disappointing game in Pretoria last night. I really went there to fully support the Pretoria team, on the day. But the real reason I went there was to see the Teko Magic. Well for all those who came with hopes like mine, the night turned to be just one of those days. I have said this before and I will say it again, Pirates needs to stop being a one man team.

It was first Vilakazi, the traitor. Everything had to depend on his form on the day, and if He was not playing the whole Pirates team would not play. Now it’s Teko, and the next thing we would be crying that Teko faded towards the end of the season. Players get fatigue and Teko is no exception. Well the injury to Terminator could not have come at the worst time, I really wish him a speedy recovery, and we miss his Excellency in the field of play.

I really miss the Class of '95 at Pirates, what a team. They played as a collective and they were playing like they were the real ghosts. They were prepared to die on the field with their boots on. No wonder this current team has the star on their jersey.

Sundowns were not at their best, but they really contained Teko Modise, and as a result Pirates had no answer to that. Having said all that, they played well, like a team that is willing to win some silverware this season, and they should, for all the fans that filled Super Stadium last night, if not for themselves. This team really owe it to their supporters to bring some silverware to Orlando, and soon.

Mooki comes to Orlando

Orlando Stadium proved too big a stage for Golden Arrows. They played their enterprising football, as always. They could not have done anything better but convert their chances. Well that’s the game of football.

Kaizer Chiefs, again proved that they are a big team and even when they were not at their best, pulled a victory, against a very stubborn team. That is yet another sign of championship winning team. Champions win a game that they really were outplayed.

What made the game yesterday more interesting was to see the return of the Master, Thabo "Tsiki Tsiki" Mooki. What a perfect time to return, in Orlando Stadium nogal, need I say more?

It is yet to be seen as to how Golden Arrows comes back from this defeat. Remember, form is temporary, its only class that is permanent. I can safely say they (Golden Arrows) like Teko Modise, (by the way I was told Teko was nowhere to be seen yesterday against Mamelodi Sundowns) had a good run of form. The only problem with form is that it’s temporary.

When one talks about class, we talk people like Thabo Mooki, well the man, like Steven Gerrard is simply in his own class. I hope his return to Orlando was not the last.

I write what I like

Supporters can make or break the players!!

This is one issue that is worrying!

We (supporters) have the power to build our players. Players they are nothing without us and we are nothing without anyone to cheer at. But we have much power to make and break them.

It is a big concern that we supporters forget about reality and look at what we want to see. Players are normal people like us; we put unnecessary pressure on them. The return of Gert "Patrick" Schalkwyk was praised by many including me (I still do, he a marvelous player. But supporters put lots of pressure on the 25 year old, some even got to the extent that he (Gert) should get a Bafana Bafana call up.

People confuse on form player and consistence players. Supporter's power is so crucial in making and breaking a player. We give them pressure and don't live up to it, we can praise them but not make them big headed, look at the likes of Malatsi, Pule, Junior, Ngobese, Nunens and more, the media and supporters had put a lot of pressure on them, and look what happed.

We criticize a lot and quickly turn to praise, these things confuse players. Teko Modise has been criticized, people saying he is big headed and plays only for Bafana. Now the supporters are singing all the hallelujahs to him.

I read about the new Kaizer Chiefs striker Ibe Zito Ogbonna, he scored two goals and already the supporters think he is the best striker in the country - this is just putting pressure on the poor guy before, once his form drops, the same supporters will be calling him a real flop.

Bernard Parker is on the spot light currently, he is a good player the media gives his all the praises you can imagine, I don't blame them he is good, but I am concern when he was compared to Benni McCarthy, and that’s just putting lots of pressure on this guy.

I think we should support him instead of comparing the incomparable; the same Parker was compared to Surprise Moriri, in a certain Soccer publication. I went on reading on that article and I was like. What is this publication doing to Parker's future? The article went on to suggest that Parker is better than Moriri. What does this says about Moriri even Parker? Moriri is in a class of his own, we all know how sharp, those two are the incomparable.

I hope this doesn't go to his head, so let's know when to stop when we are praising and comparing ama-players wethu, peace!

Pre-Match Investigation: Mamelodi Sundowns vs. Orlando Pirates

It’s Wednesday at last and I woke up early today… music was pumping already at my friend’s flat (Sundowns fan) and the “old lady” knew that it’s Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates or Mamelodi Sundowns who are playing today.

Yes maGoGo its Mamelodi Sundowns hosting Orlando Pirates not at my friend's place… at Super Stadium tonight in their first ABSA Premier League game of the season. The last meeting between the two powerhouses ended in a 3-1 victory for the Mighty Buccaneers.

Goals - Pirates: (Bennet Chenene, Excellent Walaza and Gilbert Mushangazhike); Sundowns: (Peter Ndlovu)

Pirates who outclassed (Moroka Swallows, Kaizer Chiefs and Thanda Royal Zulu) will come to Super Stadium looking to continue their superb run in the league against The Brazilians – but the Buccaneers face a LION (Sundowns) which is hungry for FOOD (victory).

Mastermind: Coach Rudi Krol
Appointed head Coach of Orlando Pirates earlier in the season, Krol has done an outstanding job to assemble a squad which was questioned by many Bucs fans. The mix of experience from players such as Benson Mhlongo with flair from Modise and Terminator has made Pirates a dangerous team.

Key players
Teko – the engine
Terminator – the name explains it
Mhlongo – the bodyguard
Mbuyani – the finisher

Many can say Sundowns are not having a great start in the league, but in my view they are sixth which is not bad after nine games. They have enough talent and players to win the league and compete in Africa. One mustn’t judge them yet as they might surprise people… and the game against Pirates will be a great TEST.

Mastermind: Coach Henri Michel
With two games and managing to collect 4 points is a great start for the new Mamelodi Sundowns head coach, Henri Michel. He is one of the best coaches in Africa who has achieved a lot in his past years. However, Michel faces a down and out LION (Sundowns) who has failed to live up to expectations after signing all the BIG players. Michel is on a mission to change that and help Sundowns challenge for league honors and what better way to show his class against Amabhakabhaka.

Key players
Nyandoro – the engine
Vilakazi – the destroyer
Acuña – the supplier
Chabangu – the finisher

Diski is a team sports

It’s Tuesday and 11:58pm…. and half of Soweto will be heading to the Super Stadium tomorrow (Wednesday) in Tshwane. It’s Mamelodi Sundowns vs. Orlando Pirates; it’s a fight of the top spot.

We as diski fans want to see flair, shibobos, skwashes, sambas, show me your number, goals just like Vusi “My Computer” Lamola once said our diski is not inferior but unique.

So lets show the World what we all about. Good luck to Pirates and Sundowns. I want to thank Dr Irvin Khoza for raising a giant in Teko Modise with his pep talk before the Kaizer Chiefs game.

My point is that when guys (players) are on the ground and wearing the same jersey then it means they are a team. We need to stop playing for ourselves or sidelining a player just because he is earning more than you, but let him show his value.

Otherwise I’m very happy with our players. Diskioff will forever inform you when it comes to Diski. Don’t forget to forward your comments to below email.

Who has scored 100 GOALS in the PSL??

People may think that ngi-negative or something – but since the PSL was formed no player has scored 100 GOALS for their teams: Orlando Pirates, Mamelodi Sundowns, Kaizer Chiefs and Moroka Swallows. I have personally single out these teams as they have made history in SA Football.

It still hurts me that Cristiano Ronaldo (midfielder) has now scored more than 100 goals for Manchester United. What is happen with these players when they play for the best teams in the country? People have finished their careers and not even scoring 50 goals.

I pray that Teko Modise “The General” (who is looking promising) may at least score 100 goals for Amabhakabhaka come the end of his career if he doesn’t go overseas.

Source: Dennis Bergkamp and Thierry Henry have both reached the career milestone of scoring 100 goals for Arsenal. Dennis Bergkamp, a scorer of truly great goals, reached his landmark in an FA Cup tie against Oxford United.

A week later the lethal & prolific Thierry Henry thundered two against Birmingham City in the Premiership, joining his 'brother in arms' as an Arsenal Centurion.

This double DVD celebrates both players achievements, presenting each and every goal. Two hundred superb goals, captured on two glorious DVDs.

I think all the ABSA Premier League players especially the strikers should BUY this DVD and maybe they can learn something from these talented players. If Thierry, Rolando and Dennis can do it… what about you my South African players?

Pic of the Week: The Brazilians

Who will win the league this season?

Guys, let me tell you who will win the league this year. This might disturb sensitive readers, but here it goes.

It will take time for Mamelodi Sundowns to gel and understand the coach and by that time the league will be out of reach, but they will give the league champs a good run for their money.

Orlando Pirates are in a good rhythm off late but we know how good they disappoint when it comes to the league race, so I do not see anything changing this year. They are a very good side and I expect some more entertaining football from them. Still they are a one man team and if Teko Modise was to get injured (I pray He does not), they will struggle a lot.

Supersport United did well last season, and they deservedly won the league. For a team to defend this title it takes a lot of character. They do have that character, but I strongly feel they should have kept the core of their team and they would win it again. A lot of teams will still get a smacking, but nope they would fade towards the end.

Kaizer Chiefs do not have thee best team and they have been very inconsistent lately. This is where they most deadly, just when you write them off. They at times have the good games and they play good enterprising football on the middle of the park.

With the new striker (Ibe Zito Ogbonna) on board, Gert Schalkwyk will definitely own the midfield and spray those deadly passes, and I tell you, they are on course to being crowed the title this season.

Another one will bite the Dust, Soon

Amazulu have played 9 games, won 4 and lost 5. They are only 7 points behind the log leaders, Golden Arrows.

Well for me, this is not quite a bad start to the season for any coach, with the kind of the squad they have and given how our PSL has grown to be competitive. I am of the view that the Management is not happy with what the coach has done so far.

After the defeat metted out by Supersport United, I anticipate yet another PSL Coach biting the dust. I tell you I have been following our game in South Africa to know when there is the slightest of smoke. I won’t really be surprised if Clive Barker is not on the bench the next time Amazulu play their game. I can only ask the Diskioff fans to watch the space, and I tell you, during the press conference tomorrow, the new coach for Amazulu FC might be unveiled.

South African teams are keen to quickly succeed and they are quick to fire their coaches. It’s a very bad trend, but it’s rife in our Country. Clive Barker is finished with Usuthu. I might not know his mandate, but I tell you, He is not in the right track in as far as Management is concerned.

Time will tell, and I put my head on the block, this week, Clive will bite the dust.

What is a National team?

Hello Diskioff readers. South African national team has been doing well lately, even though most games were friendly it's still feel good to be a South African and diski follower, many are wondering about the heading, "What is a national team?" well I'm on this topic because of our performance lately. Ghana were beaten Cameroon were walloped and Nigeria were so lucky to have won that game after they were chasing shadows.

I read comments about Nigeria, Cameroon and Ghana fielding their B team, who is their A team, this is undermining our national team; this guys must just accept defeat and go back to the drawing board. Every time we beat and west African country, there will be talks about fielding a B team, are they expecting to come here and have a picnic in the field and win the game, shame this is not sportsmanship at all, good sports men accept defeat and try to improve.

The recent comments about Cameroon fielding B team got me thinking. What is this now? A national B team, this is discrediting South Africa, we might be doing bad but discrediting us like this? What is their A team? Samuel Eto'o, Jeremy Njitap and Rigobert Song: is this Cameroon's A team? The mentioned players were missing, but I don't think they should have made any different. We have national under 17, 20, 23 and then the senior team, all countries have that. National team is a country's best or trusted players according to people who select them, there is no such thing as a national team B.

Back to the ABSA Premier League - goals had been scored, I think our scoring problem is becoming the thing of the past, goals are banged in week in and out, lot's of goals, count the weekend goals, you will understand what I'm talking about. This is really good, more goals and the attendance at the Stadiums is increasing, and WOW Soweto stadium is out of this World. Some of my friends did not believe that was SA and Soweto. Great stuff indeed. Let's increase the attendance at the stadiums baf'wethu.

Have a Blessed Monday and the rest of the week.

Why Super? Why One gate?

I am most internally grateful that Orlando Stadium is upgraded. It carries a rich history of this country and its football. It’s an absolute beauty and Diski is now back ko Kasie.

Well I am more concerned about the big game that is coming this Wednesday. It’s the high riding Mighty Buccaneers (Orlando Pirates) against the most expensive outfit in Africa (Mamelodi Sundowns). My main worry is that this game will be played at the Super Stadium in Attredgeville. Given what transpired there when Kaizer Chiefs played Supersport United, I start to have some goose bumbs.

Only one entrance was used for the big game for all the supporters on the day. It was chaos and a very big mess. As to why only one entrance was used still beats me. My main concern was that the supporters kept on streaming into the pitch for the entire first half of the game. I tell you should have one team scored in the first half, there was going to be something else outside.

When the game ended, still we were supposed to use the very entrance as an exit. People could not take that and they created their very own exit on the other side and we could easily make it out the stadium. The fence was pushed down and a temporary exit was created as a result.

Now it’s this big game going to the same venue. I really have nothing against the Super Stadium, it’s actually a great pitch.

I am simply worried about this single gate issue and I hope that does not happen this coming Wednesday. We do not want to be on the spotlight with something that we could have avoided, more so now, when the 2010 world cup is about to kickoff.

Grand opening of Orlando Stadium

Ask and it shall be given to you. The draw for Confederations Cup 2009 has been made and my gosh what a draw indeed. Bafana Bafana are in group A with Spain, New Zealand and Iraq. Group B is Brazil, Italy, Egypt and USA.

I know that we fancy Bafana to go through to the semis cause of their group. I want to warn Bafana not to take Iraq and New Zealand lightly because they are dangerous. I want to applaud minister of transport Mr. Jeff Radebe for investing R170 billion in transport.

I think it’s about time our roads and airports to be fixed. Back to business, Orlando Stadium was officially opened and goals were galore just like Moroka Swallows vs. Kaizer Chiefs in the 80s were ten goals were scored in one game.

What a beautiful stadium and it’s so big, accommodate 40 000 people. On Saturday night 30 000 diski lovers attended, wow what a turn out. Orlando Pirates beat Thanda Royal Zulu 4-2 in the first game at the re-opened of the stadium. I want to say job well done for rebuilding our kasi stadium and hope that the parking lot will be enlarged too.

I hope we keep on parking the stadiums and get behind our teams. We wanted the big teams to compete and they are giving you exactly that. I mean there’s only 3 points difference from number 1 to number 6. It shows that now big teams have waken up and want to make a mark.

Orlando Stadium is now here so no excuses of not going to watch games. I wish the next Soweto Derby be played there. Thanx diski lovers and please comment on our Diskioff blog.

DR'S ART: PSL GETTING INTERESTING!

Back in the days we used to look forward to Kaizer Chiefs, Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates playing each other but know ABSA Premier League is more or less like Barclays Premier League. In Barclays Premier League every week there is an interesting game, and there are a lots of rivals in the Barclays League apart from the big four (Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool).

There are games like Tottenham Hotspur vs. Chelsea or Arsenal, Manchester derby, Everton vs. Liverpool and now Manchester City is going to increase the big teams in Barclays - what a GREAT league.

Thanks to ABSA and other companies that are sponsoring the PSL and the PSL teams. The rivalry is also growing in the ABSA Premier League - apart from big three namely Chiefs, Sundowns and Pirates playing each other, there are games that like one of big three playing Bloemfontein Celtics, Supersport United, Ajax Cape Town and Moroka Swallows.

These days few supporters even compare Sundowns vs Supersport to Pirates and Chiefs derby this just show that ABSA Premier League is growing and becoming interesting day- by-day. Even Golden Arrows games against big three are interesting cause Arrows is doing well.

If you said the standard of ABSA Premier League is going down, then I don’t know which ABSA Premier League you are talking about because the one I know is becoming tight if not tight already.

Remember this is not personal but my view.

Premier Soccer League: Please introduce MATRIC kuDISKI as an application

Something our South African footballers should learn is that education comes first – then idiski!
• This also goes for Mushin who didn’t want Tau to go and write his exams!
• This goes to Thabang Lebese – who today works for a funeral company.
• This goes to Edward Motale – who today owns a spanza-shop…
• The list is endless…

However, I hope the new soccer generation learns from our old players.

I think PSL or SAFA should by all means make new rules – everyone must have a matric (standard 10) if they join any PSL team. Then from there players must be helped on choosing careers just in case they get injured!

This must be forced to all teams in the PSL and people will get diplomas & degrees and help the nation to grow as a brand. Football is a gamble… same as playing amadice – your chances of making moola (money) are slim. This applies to FOOTBALL as your chances of making are slim: today toy are good… and tomorrow everything could just change.

I’m tired of hearing all the players say they’ll be coaches when they retire kuFOOTBALL. I think this should be like eHigh School – they must have a Guidance Period! THIS is where every player must attend and they’ll see if they are progressing in football and career wise.

Let’s help our players to be betta people as I hate to see a former GREAT player suffering! I love my soccer players & I want everyone to make it!

Mr. Idiotlessons of iDISKI!

Woza 2010 World Cup

Time is no more. We are near to the 2010 World Cup and the first World Cup to be held in Africa. Guys we are on the right track and ready to swim with the sharks.

I have to applaud our beloved fans for filling up the stadiums in our recent games. I think we will fill the stadiums again. Ayeye Orlando Stadium is officially opening this weekend and we are sooo excited as you know Diskioff will be there to give you exclusive news.

Let’s buy tickets for the Confederations Cup. Bafana Bafana needs us, look at their recent performances. Who do you think we should pick in our group? Brazil, Spain or Egypt?

Good luck on Saturday Bucs

Moroka Swallows
Don't follow me follow the birds = Support us only if we win.

Kaizer Chiefs
Amakhosi 4 Life = A meaningless slogan uttered by amateurs, sounds like a pair of jeans from the rural areas.

Jomo Cosmos
Ezenkosi = It could be any king including the king of losers.

Orlando Pirates
Once a Pirate always a Pirate = A life-time commitment to the beautiful game & a team supported by God himself.

In a home there are always arguments between the parent (Pirates) and the kids (Chiefs and Cosmos). Well like the kids say parents just don't understand, so let's leave them saying the same thing after every game. We gave birth to these kids and we know better especially when they deserve a spanking.

GOOD LUCK TO THE BOYS - Siyabangena!!!!

Bafana made me proud yesterday

What a game!!! What a game izolo!!!! Teko Modise you are a legend!!!! What a game! We had some good exposure for our younger players out there today...! CAMEROON was even lucky to get those goals as our defence was weak!!

Well... I think Bafana need 2 do the right thing for the nation… and that’s keep on playing well and winning is a BONUS for us ahead of the Confederations Cup next year.

We as a nation will have the confidence in them for 2010, if they keep on playing well and winning games. Bafana is holding the nation's pride. I am personal behind the head coach... he's got the experience, skills, tactical skills and knowledge.

As a nation we should stop talking about how the team does not have the experience to win and encourage the boys to do their best. B4 one is call a great player... one first makes mistakes... then only can u b called a great player. The team still has about a year and few months to better their performance before the World Cup.

Soccer is all about the love of the game... having fun doing what you love… doing the best and passion of the game. Ayeye… Brazil, Italy, Spain, Iraq, New Zealand, Egypt and USA. Good luck Bafana for the Confederations Cup next year.

On the right lane

What a Wednesday night! Bafana dominating over Cameroon, that was a remembrance of our dominance over African teams in 1996. I have to say I’m happy with our players combinations and their will to fight.

Teko Modise and Benni McCarthy are very deadly, they understand each other. Same goes for our players. Eish I’m more worried about defending set pieces but it’s a problem all over the world. What can we do except for us to concentrate to the last whistle?

Goalkeepers must be the once who organise the back cause they have a clear view and have to let defenders know that they have covered certain area and they need to cover the other area. Remember keepers like Okpara who use to make everything in the box his.

It’s time for keepers to do the same and take no prisoners. Otherwise we are on fire and like I said with one my articles Bafana are ready yet let’s not put pressure on them. Ayoba Bafana Ayoba, 2010 here we come. Thanx diski fans!!!

Heric has resigned from his position

After a thrilling win for Bafana against Cameroon, it is sad to announce that Bay United Head Coach, Vladislav Heric has resigned from his position with immediate effect (19 Nov 2008).

Heric handed in his resignation after a meeting with the clubs board of directors on the 18th.

Heric resigned stating his unhappiness at recommendations made by the board at the meeting which included - Team selection, management etc...

Heric considered the Board’s interventions to be undue interference with his duties.

It's extremely sad that we have to part ways with a coach that has done so much for Bay United and football in the region, lets hope that it is the first and last incident of its kind.

We would also like to thank Coach Heric for everything he has done in bringing football back to the Eastern Cape. Umlilo fans are eternally grateful and we wish you all the success from here on.

Goalkeeper coach Pernel McKop will act as the head coach until a replacement is found.

Everything is a mess manje

You've said it better my boeta. Our grounds are growing trees, kids drink as if they get paid to do it, and they smoke cannabis. I was surprised when I went to my home town Burgersfort, some kids called me with a nickname that I hated when I was growing up there, hehehe!

Everything is a mess manje, but they are still few who know what they want in life. Taverns never closes, 24/7 my broer. Hehehe, you played idiski (Mr. Baile) and you didn’t even make it to your senior team in your village? Wow!

I played for the senior team when I was 14 years old, I was thin and the youngest and they used to call me “9 inch spikiri”, hehehe. I’ve grown with the team, I still play and infact any team can sign me if they know what talent is.

I lost interest of following my dreams of playing professional diski when I was robbed of my chance to play professional. It was in Mamelodi for Mamelodi Juventus, in 2001 for Vodacom League. I got angry by the system they used to select players because they knew their parents, and then I noticed that I was chasing the birds and it was better to chase education. I’m still lethal and still looking for a team, hehehe.

Joke of the Day

When Thulasizwe Mbuyane joined Orlando Pirates during the window period, he was asked to fill an application form for a job. He promptly filled the columns titled NAME, AGE, ADDRESS etc. Then he came to the column SALARY EXPECTED: He was not sure as to what to be filled here. After much thought he wrote "Yes!"

To lose weight the doctor told Mbulelo Mabizela to run eight kilometers a day for 300 days. After 300 days Mabizela called the doctor to report he had lost the weight, but he had a problem. "What's the problem?" asked the doctor. "I'm 2400 Kms away from home."

Muhsin Ertugral with two red ears went to his doctor. The doctor asked him what had happened to his ears and he answered. "I was ironing my polo shirt and the phone rang but instead of picking up the phone I accidentally picked up the iron and stuck it to my ear." The doctor then asked: "What about the other ear?" Muhsin answered: "The damn idiot called again" to know what your view is on Wednesday's game.

Gone are the Days

People have been complaining about lack of quality players and development in the country. Well I am not an expert but maybe my personal experience might enlighten all as to where things went wrong.

I am from a rural village in the North West called Fafung. As a young boy growing up there, one did not have much choice when it came to sports. Football was the order of the day. Every male species were expected to play football in the village, and yes, we all did. There were three divisions. The juniors where all the under fifteens would play, then the lucky ones would be promoted to the senior teams C's and B's. Then the selected few would then be deployed to the senior teams.

That was at a rural village, where every youngster would love to down the senior team jersey. That’s all we played for. Let me mention that I did not make it far through the ranks, but I tried my best in football. There were simply too many quality players that were there, so it made it difficult for some of Bobby Motaung's "Quality players" to make it to even the second level of the game. That is why soccer was at its best during those years in this country.

There were 4 senior teams in Fafung, namely Mogosane FC, Black Birds FC, All Stars FC and The Reds FC. When there was what we used to call a Top 4, where all the 4 teams played each other on a single day (Like the Charity games), everyone would go to the ground, and I mean everyone. Homes would be deserted by the young, old and even the very old. The village would come to a stand still.

I remember player like the late Shando "Chillies" Leso, Pieces Motswaledi Plele Blski Sello and many more. Those were the days My Broer. These were players who would walk into any PSL team today and own the places on the starting eleven. Well I can see most of you laughing and saying, "Now what is Baile talking about?”

This is what I mean by these players being some of the best. There were no scouts who would come to the village. Its only when they went to the cities to seek work that they were exposed to these scouts. I mean I had the luxury of watching all the good passes of Shakes Kungoane at home, before He went to Alexandria. So that’s what I mean about the quality players, even Jethro Mohlala although He was in the neighbouring village of Klipvoorstad.

Those are the few that made it to Professional ranks and I tell you, they can tell you of a lot who were better than them. Well I went home recently. Football is dead. The football grounds are growing trees. The young guys are hitting the bottle big time. The taverns are making a lot of money. Crime is at its peak. The Pass rate is at its all time low - Its heart breaking.

I tell you this is the story of most Villages, Townships and all the places that used to produce all the quality players. All you hear is people talking about the past football stars of their time. Oh the beloved game of billions is no more. I tell you, the current crop of players are still better, with this rate in 10 years time, Hmmm, all I would say is that, The west is yet to come. God, what happened?

This is what happened. Kids today pensive themselves as being KLEVAS, but they don’t know that the older generation is wiser than them… as they call us, diBARI (Stupid). They start smoking at a very early age. Believe you me, at that very age, that’s when they start playing their favourite sport, S!X.

We love Sammy

For most of us in Pretoria, more so most of us who live in Mabopane X-extension, Sammy “Fever” Mashabane clearly represent the Mamelodi Sundowns supporter. He has dedicated his life to the game and Sundowns. He motivates some of us to jump ship and start supporting a Pretoria based team. Mashabane is one of the best supporters and we will continue to love him.

He is a very strong person and He always stands for what He believes in. It did not come as a shock when He spilled the beans yesterday. We were actually sad to come to understand that Sammy has been treated like this, by a team He loves passionately, and supported for as long as I can remember.

Why was Sammy Fever given the PRO job in the first place? Who in Sundowns is sabottaging Sammy? This is not right and for whoever is doing all this to Sammy, let him know that the word is out in Pretoria, "We will always love Sammy!"

I’m a South African through and through, but when it comes to Bafana Bafana... I’m constantly left sad and speechless. What is there to say? Bafana continues to disappoint us on a daily basis. We had such high hopes for the team since the glory of the African Nations triumph all those years ago, but the boys have continued to disappoint. It actually makes me sick. But I will continue to support and cheer for Bafana. Congratulations over their recent triumph.

On a different note I think former President Thabo Mbeki was right about names such as Bafana Bafana. On a bigger scheme of things, on the world footballing stage we cannot afford to be small boys. We need to be men. How about changing the name to Banna Banna.
by Makhalemele

I will only LUV to see these three players in the team:
Modise!!!
Zuma!!!!
McCarthy!!!
by Van Der Walt

If I was COACH – this would have been my team my man!
1) Rowen Fernandez
2) Sibusiso Zuma
3) Steven Pienaar
4) Aaron Mokoena
5) Young players from the South African League
6) Benni McCarthy
by Kintgen

The reason for Bafana Bafana's playing is that the team doesn’t gell together. If we look at our team of 96 with Doctor Khumalo and Mark Fish and Lucas Radebe and compare with the current team there is no doubt who the better side is. Though the current team has the same amount of talent with players like McCarthy and Pienaar playing in the English Premier League. What we need is a local coach such as Jomo Sono, Clive Barker or even Gordon Igesind to help get the team playing and working together properly.

One thing that I have noticed about South Africa and other African teams for that matter is we don’t play organised soccer. We don’t switch play we just play small passes which ends up making the who9le game get played in the centre. Egypt is a fine example of a team that does infact play organised European style football. We need a manager that will play our youth players and make a good mix of experience and youth to play in 2010. We must realise that players like McCarthy and Zuma will be old by 2010.

JOKE OF THE DAY

Dario Monterio is buying a TV and asks "Do you have colour TVs?"

"Sure" says the assistant.

Dario replies "Give me a green one, please."

The weekend that was

Another week, another drubbing for Muhsin Ertugral, his eyes became even more squint, his hair became greyer, that pre-season arrogance disappeared, but what did he expect? He is there one who proclaimed that he has only 7 quality players including Emile Baron, how demoralizing can that be to players? Now that Kaizer Chiefs have been walloped in the field, they can expect the same treatment in the boardroom as Sphelele Mthembu is legible to play for Pirates and judging by his big smile on the Pirates website, it’s a done deal.

Surprise Surprise, another free agent for Amakhosi, Zito Ogbonna, I have tried to get some information on this “sensation”, well apart from his facebook page, all I could find was the news that he has been signed by Chiefs. We just have to wait and see, but I would advise the Chiefs fans not to hold their breath, I have heard this song many times and it delivered Wasiu Ipayi, Wedson Nyirenda, some guy called Malam, Elton Maringa, Something Dube from Swaziland, the list is endless and I mean that the list is endless.

Golden Arrows were at it again this weekend, they beat Swallows, and remain unbeaten in the league and have beaten Chiefs, no, they actually totally walloped Ajax and Chiefs, slapped Sundowns around in their own backyard and beat Pirates, is it me or is this team becoming exceptionally good? My only issue with Arrows is fielding of those third grade Brazilians but Mato Madlala has something good going in Lamontville except I don’t understand why they only have 47 supporters.

Henri Michel is now the coach or manager at Downs, to welcome him, they easily dispensed of the over confident Thanda Royal Zulu, I noticed that Acuna was wearing a hairstyle that made him look like Michel’s son, but more importantly, what is the point of Trott Moloto being kept at the first team, Is it empowerment? I doubt, Is it tokenism? Most definitely. If Trott had any pride, he would be out of there but I guess money is more valuable than Pride. Mr. Michel welcome to Downs, for you sake I hope you have not unpacked all your suitcases, patience is not in the Chloorkop vocab.

There is something very different with the make up of the Pirates team this season, firstly, they are fielding big boys now, it does not look like “Ntokozo Primary School “ when they get on the field, and secondly there are fewer fancy players in the team, this is the key to winning, fielding workhorses. I hope Pirates fans don’t start with their crap of demanding “attractive football”, the only thing you win with that is flair play of the week.

Good luck to Bafana against the indomitable Lions, I do hope the Lions will field lions not cubs, our team needs to be tested thoroughly, the Confederations Cup is almost here, still I am puzzled at the exclusion of Terror Fanteni. Maybe he must follow in the footsteps of the other Terror and form his own bafana team called BOPE, Bafana of the People, and maybe recruit the likes of Henyekane and Siayabonga Sangweni, but seriously what must these guys do to be taken seriously?

MR KNOW IT ALL
Mr. Know it ALL’s I write what I like

Welcome to the Platinum Province everyone

I am so happy that our National Team is once again visiting the 2010 Host Platinum Province. The people at Bloemfontein set the pace. We in the North West have to go and try to keep the standard set by the people in Bloemfontein.

By now all who thought I am going to Rustenburg because of the so called Cameroon stars should by now have picked up the real reason I will be behind my beloved Bafana Bafana. I am going there, to be part of the people who would show that it was not a mistake that we at the North West, are afforded an opportunity to host the people of the world during the 2010 World Cup.

I do not see any reason why all the Orlando Pirates fans in the Platinum Province should not descend to the stadium, the mood is high and they should just go there to further celebrate the victory against the Amakhosi. Let’s go Bucs and translate the Ghost magic to the National team.

To Amakhosi fans, I know the heart is still sore. What a better way to heal a broken heart by supporting the team that represents all of us. Lets show a good spirit of football and go and sit next to the Pirates fans and shake their hands for a good hiding they metted out the past weekend. Come on Khosi, I know you a good sports people and you are going to do it. The country needs you.

To all of us the North West soccer loving people, this is our opportunity to rise above the rest. To share with all who will be joining us (for this great game, that is in honour of the greatest man alive, Madiba) the very best of our peaceful province. The time to carry the beautiful Platinum smile with us to the game, so as to sell our readiness.

Let me urge all the people of the Bafokeng Nation, together with the King himself, Kgosi Leruo Molotlegi, to all join us at Olympia Park. This are those rare moments that makes one a proud North West citizen. An opportunity for all to go and have a little smell of the Platinum dust before 2010.

The team is ready for any kind of Lions. The Indomitable Lions are in for a big Shock. For all those who are scared of the Cameroonian team, all we can say as the Platinum people," We are not scared for they are not invincible".

We all in the North West fully behind our National team, so Nito, be rest assured, I am taking all my friends home to watch this game.

Halala Bafana, These Lions are toothless. Let’s go and do Madiba and all his people Happy, like all the Happy People of Pirates.

Nelson Mandela Inauguration Challenge

Bafana Bafana are up against the Indomitable Lions tomorrow night, it's time to shift the focus to the Bafana vs. Cameroon game, and forget the derby, because some of us are still hurt about the weekend results, like my friend here, loyal Diskioff reader: “Its a good thing that Bafana are playing on Wednesday so that the focus will be on them for the time while we try to recover from the hammering of the weekend.”

I want to know what your view is on Wednesday's game since it's not that well advertised and even on Diskioff it was not that much advertised". (Source: Melato Botsane). We will be playing one of the top nations in the African football, they have all their stars and we have our own stars, I call them stars because they represent us and currently we depend on them.

Many are saying it is a real test for Bafana Bafana, well I think this is undermining our nation, test for what? Cameroon is beatable and we have done well against them in some occasions. we are not the best and not the worse, we have done well for the past three game and so, even if we lost some game but as a football loving person and understanding the game, we can only go forward and beat Cameroon they are not invincible.

This is not a time to test but it's time to compete with the best, so there is no such things as test, rather say Cameroon will have to sweat if they want to beat Bafana Bafana at home, Ghana got the taste. Benni McCarthy has done something that many were not expecting from him, he is brave and I think he's going do well given the chance. We are currently ranked 80 on FIFA rankings, this is a motivation in it self to the players no one want to be ranked 80, and remember this is Nelson Mandela Inauguration Challenge Cup, every player wants to win for Madiba.

Cameroon is a strong Team, but they mustn’t expect to just come here and win, they'll have to sweat, so people embrace yourselves for the Mzansi diski, some tsamayas, s'thendes and show me your numbers, hehehe!

I personally believe will beat Cameroon. Fill up the stadium people of Rustenburg and surroundings, Baile get all your friends to the GAME.

Peace and thanks again to Melato Botsane!

Why people say we are useless?

People say we (Mamelodi Sundowns) are useless, but on the ABSA Premier League log we are on top of those same people (Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates supporters). So what will happen when we bounce back (when Moriri gets fit). I see trouble for them... Bafana ba style are on their way to the top-where we belong (watch this space....)

Still to recover from that loss

Eish it's Monday and I’m still to recover from that loss. We were done everything not to say that were satisfied by 2 goals. I mean Orlando Pirates outplayed and outclassed us. We have beaten them before consecutively but not like that. Everyone was saying, "Pirates played well, they just didn’t convert their chances" but I guess no one will say the same about KC after that Saturday embarrassment.

Nevertheless, Itu should have been the man of the man regardless of whether we won or lost (although I don’t know who won the man of the man cos I have to boycott TV for 2 days, even SoccerZone tonight). The score remained that, thanks to Khune and his saves.

But I guess, the boys will pick themselves up, and ohh, I’m looking forward to seeing Zito (Zinto) in Gold and Black and I hope his presence in the first 11 will be fruitful.

It does not rain, but it pours

What a Monday we had today. 60% of the soccer loving population are not really keen to watch soccer zone tonight. That’s all thanks to Bobby's quality players and Coach. Why did Mushin Etugral start Arthur Zwane at the left back again? Does he know you can’t experiment with a GAME of that magnitude?

Well Mushin got upset when Jimmy Tau left to write exams, so he punished him with the bench. In the process costing the team. Now what comes to my mind is why did Mabhuti Khanyeza leave Amakhosi? Well Mushin is really on the wrong path with this team.

Let me support my statement and make it clear. First the coach (Mushin), dismantled the Chiefs defence. This defence did not have big names but it did the job, and did it well. As to why Mushin did away with that defence, it beats me. Now Chiefs does not have a defence and look how many goals they’ve consided so far this season. It does not rain, but it pours in Naturena.

Secondly, He is out of the blue, decided that the most loyal player at Chiefs, Thabo Mooki should go to hell. Well we all know Mooki have since never seen any game time. Does the coach know that there is a huge difference between Chiefs and Ajax? Why was He fired the first time around at Naturena?

People will argue I am quick to blame the Coach. I am not, and I have always questioned a lot of his decisions. I can’t blame Bobby for buying his "Quality players". Mushin should use the team he has and use them well.

Thanks to the mighty Bucs for exposing Chiefs at all departments. They hardly ever threatened to score on the day. They had no plan nor tactics on the day. Good luck to the new Nigerian striker, I hope he resolves the defensive, midfield and the strike force problems at Naturena.

Halala Buccanner, what a well deserved win.

Game of tactics!!

Hello Diskioff Readers. What a game of tactics! Whooo, whooo. Mushin Etugral was beaten tactically. Coach Rudi Krol got it right; he is making wonders at Pirates. Back to Mushin and his tactics, he got it wrong, Arthur Zwane is a brilliant player, but he is not a right back, he was exposed even the game before the derby, but Mushin did not notice that.

He (Mushin) likes experiments that cost the team. Hehehe. Tinashe Nengomashe was nowhere in that game, he was tactically outplayed, playing Teko Modise as a left winger is the tactic that killed Chiefs. Nengomashe had nothing to do because his task was actually out of his territory; he was not going to be a winger. Big ups to Krol, Mabalane Dikgang… I have only three words for him, Sensational, Lethal, and Magician. Bhasera had no chance to move forward, this was tactics at its best. Mhlongo, I know many don't like you, but you played your heart out and many will realise how good you are.

All in all Krol know his story, he is building a good team and he was patient in finding his cards right, Itumeleng Khune was brilliant but he had not cover, his defenders were tired he need new people, I don't know what is Tsotetsi doing in the Chiefs colours, he is not their material.

Pirates out played Chiefs in all the departments from the coach down to the keeper, Zenzo was brilliant. Once again Torrealba is being wrongfully used, he has no supplier he fight for the ball and try to score on his own, he made a mistake for leaving Suprise Moriri's suppliers, mediocre was separated from quality. Bolaya BHAKA BHAKA Bolaya.

Have a Blessed Monday and the rest of the week.

Mnotoza - Hahaha beatn Chiefz gave us lyf... Dankie Buca Buca ayoba!

Dlamini - That waz an awesome game. We embarassd them, outplayd them & outshone them. Chiefs - thanx 4makin us feel at home & servin us with a streetwise TWO! Im very hapi with da performance. UP THE BUCSA proud BhakaDiva.

Mnotoza - Ayoba Buca Buca... Chiefs wer out playd... Fact nt fiction... Happy ppl r bck... Ayoba buca buca 4 lyf..Happy ppl 1nce more xmas came early!!

AMABHAKABHAKA TILL THE END - WE LOVE OUR TEAM!

Comments from Kaizer Chiefs supporters: Kaizer Chiefs vs Orlando Pirates

Mpiti - what we really need is a quality defender 2 partner Quartey or we r DEAD. We were lucky 2 escape with a 2-0 drubbing bcz we were really awful on SAT. It was of da worst performances I have ever seen 4rm my beloved Amakhosi & it reminded me of the poor football we played under Ernst Middendorp. The technical team & the players shd be ashamed of themselves 4 such a disgraceful performance. KHOSI 4 LIFE!!

Radebe - Guys, what happened? How could this happen? HHA? Yeses...

Tembu - Eish... wabona nou akere? shapa Bucaneer shapa! jaa... bare donorile fo sho... what happened to bo Skara, Fabian... I mean, their spaces are unfilled... Putco left and it was our downfall. I mean I miss the days tsa bo Thabo "Thiba" Thabanang you know? haaa, suka Bobby man... uBobby straight!!! nx!

Kunene - I have alwayz said Bobby is not gud when comin' 2 buyin' gud players not just gud players who can come in and win a game 4 us.

Makhanya - We are not lacking something but we have something we need to get rid of: BOBBY's attitude torwards players who play and those who want to sign for the club. He for some strange reason want players to beg him to play for Chiefs. We lost GAXA, PARKER & many others who had clearly opened their mouths and said they wanted to play for Chiefs but all that fizzle into nothing in his hands. Now he is busy scaring us with this desperate striker he got for free after his team dumped him.

Makhanya - We lost because we had no direction, there was never a moment I had the ilution that we were going to score after the 1st goal was scored. Guys I dont know if im missing something or Chiefs dont have the magnate for good players it use to have, I wonder why? I'm not saying its BOBBY's attitude!!!!!!!!!!! Substitutes won games for Chiefs for years, now we dont even have players on the bench...

Morobane - Chiefs must just swallow their pride and buy Fabian back from Swallows; our defence is not convincing. The likes of Mathebula and Tshabalala are good players but they lack character; in them I expect what JJP was to Chiefs. One of our biggest problems at Chiefs still remains MANAGEMENTS ARROGANCE; our voices are never heard. Playing Zwane at right back should never happen again when a natural right back is on the bench!

Mbebe - U see, i dont lyk being shitted on bt wat iKaizer Chiefs was doing on SAT was top norch bull crap. Masango and Phala must go they taking space on da bench and nt adding value 2 da team! Khune u r da man!!!!

Mnisi - It could have been sumtng else in dbn. We lost guys better luck next tym.

Lehlokoe - Yoh, that match hurt. Eish, i don't even know what to say, I'm still hurt. We were hectically outplayed, I never expected Modise & Co to play so well, Mabalane was a monster on the wing. Ah mara we'll come back, let's hope this new Nigerian striker of ours can take us to the next level.

Dlamini - We wer outplayed from start 2finish... Muhsin dsnt listen, we wer exposed at the back jus lyk on WED... im disappointd, but ke they hadnt won in 4 years so wateva!

Cholidiza - What in the World was that? What kind of a perfomance was that? It's about time that we perfom. BIG UPS TO ITU, he did exceptionally well. Kaizer must buy mobile and skillful strikers. We are in need of a change. Change we can!!

Makhwelo - We do not have any depth! Bobby must stop ignoring us now.

Ndlovu - Well we were outplayed, our game plan was not up to scratch. After all I am a "Khosi 4 life"

Kwatala - Ayayaaaa! di padile... we giving em a chance. Khosi 4 life!!!

Mbele - I guess the boys were not ready : ( but hey Khune well tried. Amakhosi 4 life no matter what!)

Nkoma - What a horrible match, but well done Khune, Amakhosi 4life!

AMAKHOSI FOR LIFE - WE LOVE OUR TEAM!
