The most difficult job in football is a coach's. If a team wins its players, if a team loses its coach's fault.Here eMzansi, there are few teams that give the COACH enough time to settle or see his contract out; Kaizer Chiefs, Golden Arrows, Supersport United and Ajax Cape Town. And there are no supporters that give a coach time to settle or see his contract out. One can disagree with this and say what about Celtics supporters? Who asked for the re-hire of Khabo Zondo? But this is not about one incident (Khabo rehired); it's about all the coaches that coached Celtics. Not long ago Celtics supporters demanded that Tony de Nobrega be sacked.
The question is do supporters look at the cause of loses, or they just say as long as the team is losing the coach must be fired? NB: not all supporters but majority of supporters.
Let's take a look at few incidents; Gavin Hunt was doing an excellent job at Black Leopards (Leopards finished in the top8), when Swallows hired him.
Before Swallows hired Hunt, they (Swallows) were always fighting relegation. When Hunt took over Swallows they were never out of top8 and they won the ABSA Cup. Some seasons back Swallows supporters were asking for Hunt's head, Hunt was supposed “to be fired". The Swallows supporters never looked at the players that Swallows management sold or lost due to contract lapse; Players like Matsitse (who was the backbone of the team and scored crucial goals), Jabulani Mendu (jobless manje) and Lucas Sebona (who went to waste his career at Sundowns).
These players were stars at Swallows, and Swallows supporters knew that. But they still asked for coach to be "sacked". Then the wish came true when he didn't renew his contract with the team. He went to Supersport United and won the ABSA Premier League, then all of sudden they wished the coach should have renewed his contract. What a shame!
Then there is Chiefs supporters. When Mushin was with Ajax they asked Chiefs to bring him back to Naturena, and Mushin indeed was hired by Chiefs. As we all know that Chiefs is not doing that well at the moment; supporters want Mushin to be fired (Never mind that Mushin won MTN8 "Wafa Wafa" Cup). Have they thought about players that Mushin wanted?
