In
just two games, I have been able to identify the differences and similarities
between Thabo Matlaba and Patrick Phungwayo.
Differences:
Matlaba
is good at defending more than attacking... the only thing that makes him look
like he is good at attacking is that he runs up and down the whole 90
minutes... but the truth is that, when he attacks - he takes unnecessary shots
that are always off-target, he fumbles a lot in the 18 yard area of the
opposition and most of the time he loses the ball when he approaches the 18
yard area, and sometimes his crosses can be bad but he is very good at
defending I must say, even though sometimes he struggles with decision making.
Phungwayo
is good at both attacking and defending... he makes good runs, he gets in to
good spaces and makes those all important crosses and then quickly goes back to
defend, although in some cases he gets caught napping... and hey he is very
skillful.
Similarities:
Both
these players are skillful and they have sweet left legs.
I'd
pick Phungwayo for any game because he doesn't complicate things and he sticks
to the basics of football.
