Kaizer
Chiefs will be looking to return to winning ways following a midweek draw
against Bloemfontein Celtic when they square up with Platinum Stars in what
promises to be a thrilling Absa Premiership clash at FNB Stadium, the Kaizer
Chiefs fortress.
The
Glamour Boys return to their fortress where they have not lost a league game
since March 2012 and will be hoping to stay within the touching distance of the
top spot in the league.
The
hosts, currently lying on seventh position was held to a goalless draw by
Bloemfontein Celtic midweek while Platinum Stars beat University of Pretoria to
move to a fourth place in the Absa Premiership.
Football
Manager Bobby Motaung said; “We are looking forward to welcome Platinum Stars
at FNB Stadium. They gave us problems last season beating us away and taking a
point in the return fixture. All that belongs in the past and we will be looking
to collect maximum points.
The
players remain motivated despite a slow start in the league this season. The
players are aware of the responsibility that comes with donning the gold and
black. Winning remains a cornerstone of which the brand was built.”
Motaung
insisted that the focus is on the league game against Platinum Stars; “We do
not want to get ahead of ourselves, the league game against Stars is the most
important game for us before we can start thinking about MTN8 semifinal fixture
next week. We continue to take it one game at a time.”
Communications
Manager, Vina Maphosa concurred with Motaung adding; “Games against Platinum
Stars have been very close in the past couple of seasons and we are expecting
an explosive clash. They are coming back from a midweek win and will be
confident coming to FNB Stadium this weekend.
We
will give them the respect they deserve but we are playing at home and as
defending champions we need to get back to consistent collection of points. We
will not allow visitors to come to our territory and dictate terms. We will
beat them from the stands first and hopefully that will rub off onto the
players on the pitch,” added Maphosa.
Tickets
are selling for R40 at Shoprite/Checkers including Computicket nationwide.
