The
quickest way to break players’ morale is through media (“Some decision has to be made about Shabba. I think he’s let us down
quite often, not because he is not a good player. I just think he is having a
real tough time and in my own opinion we need to say ‘Shabba come sit on the
bench, look from outside and you can still come and make an impact’. Not just
to throw him to the wolves but sit him down and say ‘Shabba, you don’t just
become a bad player overnight’. The coach can word it nicely and correctly as
he explains to the player what he wants to achieve,” Tovey said. READ THIS STORY: http://bit.ly/10R1aRB)
Instead
of rallying behind Bafana Bafana, players are singled out and criticized! Even
our analysts /former squad players have basically lost the main objective of
analysing. They are the main critiques!
I'm
not saying we should ignore some elements and be mute when coming to the rating
players but what does singling out a player achieve? They call it a team
because everyone is working towards the same goal. All players should take
charge and represent the country.
Like I said, don't BLAME, criticize
CONSTRUCTIVELY! When analysing, look at how the game unfolded, extract
positives/ negatives then give suggestions of how the negatives can be
improved. Suggest a way forward; don't leave us with many other non-ending
questions!
That's
why I believe in constructive criticism, something that someone can look at and
try to improve!
