is followed by billions of supporters around the world as 41,850 soccer fans
came in numbers to register their love for African football in celebration of
the beat at Africa’s feet of the 29th Edition of the Africa Cup of Nations.
In
what could be a definitive moment for future stadium attendances by South
African soccer fans during the tournament Group A lived up to its expectations
as football brilliance was displayed during the two matches played by South
Africa vs Angola and Morocco vs Cape Verde, respectively.
The
fans drowned the magnificent stadium drapped in yellow, gold and green with the
deafening sounds of the symbolic vuvuzelas that have become a permanent feature
at soccer cup competitions in South Africa as thousands of football supporters
were treated to the African skill, flamboyance and determination as the two
teams battled for a win to go to the top of the Group.
Not
a single security incident was reported as the teams battled it out for the
coveted trophy of the Orange Africa Cup of Nations.
The
Local Organising Committee was upbeat at the end of the last match as it became
clear that the tone of the tournament was on course.
