Rustenburg-based
outfit, Platinum Stars were crowned as winners of the Absa Premiership Quarter
Two (Q-2).
‘Dikwena’,
as Platinum Stars is affectionately known, finished top of the Quarter Two log
with 18 points from seven games.
Platinum
Stars were handed a R1.5 million cheque by PSL Acting CEO, Cambridge Mokanyane.
Mokanyane
heaped praise on Platinum Stars coach, Calvin Johnson following gutsy
performances in the Absa Premiership.
“I
would like to congratulate Platinum Stars management, technical staff and the
players for winning the second quarter of the Q-Innovation. I think the
Q-Innovation has been a resounding success if you look at the number of goals
scored in the season so far. It is the dream and vision of our chairman, Dr
Irvin Khoza to see improved standards of football in the country and this
Q-Innovation has gone a long way in contributing towards that,” Mokanyane said.
