The Premier Soccer league today, Tuesday 6 November 2012 will hand over the prize money for the Q-Innovation first quarter to log leaders Kaizer Chiefs.

The PSL Acting CEO, Cambridge Mokanyane will offer the team the R1, 5 Million cheque to the AmaKhosi management prior to kick-off of their Absa Premiership clash with Golden Arrows at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.

The Naturena-based side finished on top of the Absa Premiership log after eight matches (Q1) with 18 points ahead of second placed University of Pretoria and third placed Orlando Pirates who are on 15 and 14 points respectively.

The Phefeni Glamour boys managed to remain unbeaten throughout the first quarter (Q1) with five wins and only three draws in their opening eight matches.
The two time Absa Premiership winners netted an impressive 16 goals and conceded a paltry four goals. Bernard Parker who has rediscovered his goal scoring form has scored seven (7) of those goals while the other strikes came from Lehlohonolo Majoro (3), Kingston Nkhatha (2), Siyabonga Nkosi (2), Tefu Mashamaite and Siphiwe Tshabalala.

“The first quarter of the Absa Premiership has been nothing but exhilarating,” says, PSL Acting CEO Cambridge Mokanyane.

“I would like to congratulate Kaizer Chiefs on being the inaugural winners of the Q Innovation. Q 1 has enabled the clubs to have short term and long term goals. We have seen in the opening quarter that the focus of the Absa Premiership is no longer focused on the last games of the season, but we have seen that every game counts.  Other impressive statistics from AmaKhosi have been the number of goals they have been able to score. The team has done well thus far and should be commended.”

The journey to become League Champions continues for the Soweto outfit as the second quarter (Q2) will begin with the re-set during the mid week matches and after every team has played an additional seven games, then Q2 will be complete and the winner will be presented with the winnings.
