Sundowns never had a captain this season

I know everyone is talking about the UEFA Champions League semifinals, but my issue is with what has happened to my beloved team, blowing away glorious opportunity, as it normally does, in the last hurdle.

First of all Johan Neeskens is a good coach and has my backing even for next season but truth be told, he committed some serious blunders that led to Mamelodi Sundowns playing rubbish they've been dishing all season. Sundowns never had a captain this season. Appointment of Method Mwanjale, only after two weeks of pre-season training camp was fatal and indeed it backfired.

From there, he went on and bowed to media and supporters' pressure and appointed another player, who never provided any leadership in the name of Teko Modise. Despite some glimpses of brilliance hear and there I do not think Teko Modise had anything better than Mwanjale that warranted him the armband.

Siyabonga Ngubane, a natural midfielder, oozing with confidence after making right back position his in the absence of Doctor Mampuru and Rama, was mysteriously dropped instead of shifting him to his natural position. Why bring back aging Esrom Nyandoro when you have a confident youngster who can slot in there?

In Botshabelo Stadium, Neeskens went against his principle and started with two strikers, for the first time when it was crystal clear that Sundowns' main problem was lack of creativity in the mid, why?

I won't even talk about his appalling home record. It must be surpassed by Jomo Cosmos' only.
