I
am a very concerned Kaizer Chiefs supporter. Our direct competitors are beefing
up their respective squads, gearing up for the second half of the season; and
Chiefs is busy signing up insurance policies.
Out
of the teams challenging for the title, we are the ones that should have gone
out to the market. If media reports are any thing to go by, we are at a risk of
losing some of our best (I am using this term very loosely) players. Why a
situation like this was allowed to happen is any one's guess.
We
used to sign the best available players. We used to be the best run club; we
probably still are in terms of brand management. However, managing the
footballing activities which is the reason why we are in business seems to be a
challenge.
I
wouldn't dare point fingers at Bobby Motaung, Chiefs has an Executive Chairman,
a CEO and a Board. I am afraid if we don't pay attention to our primary
existence, what happens off the field will be pretty useless. We are a soccer
club not an off the field promotions company.
