Mamelodi Sundowns and Henri Michel part ways amicably

Mamelodi Sundowns announced today that a gentleman’s agreement was concluded with Henri Michel in terms of which his services as head coach will come to an end.

The President of Mamelodi Sundowns Mr. Patrice Motsepe said,” I want to thank Henri Michel for the commitment and loyalty he showed to Sundowns whilst employed as its head coach.

Henri Michel made a huge contribution to the standard and quality of football at Sundowns and in South Africa. We wish him all of the very best in his future endeavours and he will continue to be part of the Sundowns family.”

The board of Mamelodi Sundowns has appointed Ted Dumitru as caretaker coach until the end of the season. He will be assisted by Brian Baloyi and Michael Manzini as player/assistant coaches.

Mr. Patrice Motsepe emphasized that at the end of the season Ted Dumitru will go back to continue with the good work that he has been doing at the Youth Academy.

A committee of the board of Mamelodi Sundowns, assisted by Ted Dumitru and Trott Moloto will be interviewing prospective candidates to be employed as head coach for the 2009/2010 season.

Mahlatse Mphahlele who is the Head of Communications at Mamelodi Sundowns said that further announcements in this regard will be made in due course.
