Pressure on Sundowns and Celtic tonight

Written By Unknown on Wednesday, January 14, 2009 | Wednesday, January 14, 2009

Mamelodi Sundowns will host bottom of the log Bloemfontein Celtic on Wednesday evening in Atteridgeville at the Super Stadium in their second Absa Premiership clash of 2008/09. The first fixture resulted in Sundowns winning by a solitary goal thanks to Surprise Moriri, but now he's warming the bench, thanks to Henry Michel.

The confidence is low at the Chloorkop Camp, after Kaizer Chiefs rubbed salt in Sundowns wounds last Sunday, one can imagine how the players feel at the moment. Sundowns had lost four and won one out of the last five games played; collecting only three point out of possible fifteen. This is poor performance buy Sundowns, the only three time PSL champions in a row!!

Downs supporters ask themselves questions without any fruitful answers. Sundowns were doing better under Trott Moloto despite losing the very important MTN 8 to Amakhosi. One wonders what went wrong, "is the new coach a problem? Or perhaps the players don't want to play for the new coach after he calls them “average players” who don't understand the basic of football? When is this going to end? Or Sundowns will continue being a point donor?"

This is some of the questions asked by Sundowns fans. It's not surprising that they are having tough times as they are inconsistence and play as if they were paid to lose the games. The Sundowns quality that everyone was talking about at the beginning of the season is now a Sundowns quantity.

Celtics on the other hand are doing badly also, they are currently holding up on the bottom of the league with only 12 points to they name, something that Masokorala Fans won't be happy with. With the signing of the new coach Owen Da Gama, Celtics look promising after forcing a one all draw to share a point with Platinum Stars away from home, not a bad start for Da Gama.

Tonight’s game is really tough because Sundowns and Celtics both want to win this game badly for different reasons. May the worse team lose… err… I mean the BEST team! He-he!
