Local is really sweet. Diego Maradona was named as an Argentinean National Coach, that's exceptional news, for someone who was always on the media for the wrong reasons, it is a big achievement and a dream come true for him. AFA made a wise move for going local. Hopefully (SAFA) and PSL Clubs are learning how to trust your local coaches. Local coaches know the players better, they understand the culture of the country and the football skills that a foreign coaches.
I'm not implying that foreign coaches are not good, they are excellent but their experience count a lot. The announcement of Joel Santana was questioned by many, he was an unknown, to make matters worse the Coach first words was the amount of money that he will be carrying to Brazil every month, instead of talking about knowing the players before anything else.
The point here is that if we were to hire a local coach maybe the results would have been better, local coaches knows our style of play, miracle were expected from Santana who knew nothing about any SA style of play, I bet he had to check his map as to where exactly is south Africa? Anyway he came absorbed the pressure well and we were knocked out of 2010 African Cup of Nations to be staged in Angola.
Given the amount of money he takes home and his experience he had to absorb the pressure, he had no choices; I mean who wouldn't want to cash in some millions if you have nothing to lose? If a local coach is in charge obviously he wants to be remembered as the hero of the country and not letting his own country down. I'm still not impressed with the SANTANA.
Local will always be lekker. Team owners just have to trust our SA born coaches so that they can also be recognized internationally and get some money from other countries, unlike what is happening now, coaches comes here to get more money but still produce pathetic results. Eish mara reality hurts at times.
It is very funny how sports officials operate la eMzansi. I lost counting our National coaches for Bafana Bafana, a World Cup winning coach for Rugby (Jake White) was forced out, and now Springbok emblem was making waves in media.
If only we can stop confusing players in the office and support the on the pitch and off!! We can go far in sports if our spots Administrators can wake up and realize apartheid is over and do things that will benefit the nation not to fill their pockets and wear expensive suits just to feel important whilest in reality are failing the nation. Mamparas!!
Local is sweet, e Monate thwaa!!
