The National First Division (NFD) teams are
hard nut to crack because of the physical style of play. The tactical philosophies
of their games are not built around positional play but physical game of first
man to the ball characterised by high tempo and energy.
Player moves with the same intensity with the
ball. The Premier Soccer League (PSL) teams play positional and direct play
with ball moving faster than players but with less freedom of skills expression
and energy.
The NFD games are full of energy and skills
but improvement is needed on shooting techniques and the composure of strikers
in front of goal.
I hope Bafana Bafana coach Gordon Igesund is
watching Nedbank Cup games as I already witnessed some unbelievable and rare
talents that need further development and international exposure.
We have many potential rough diamonds in the
NFD that need to be polished to shine like a star.
