Bafana move up seven places in FIFA world rankings

Bafana Bafana have moved up seven places to 61st in the latest FIFA/Coca- Cola World rankings released on Thursday, 17 October 2013.

South Africa shares that position with Libya, who are 11th on the continent, a spot above Bafana Bafana.
Last month South Africa occupied position 68 on the world rankings, and were 12th on the continent.

Africa top 10:
·         Ivory Coast [world ranking: 17]
·         Ghana [23]
·         Algeria [32]
·         Nigeria [33]
·         Mali [41]
·         Cape Verde Islands [42]
·         Tunisia [47]
·         Egypt [51]
·         Burkina Faso [52]
·         Cameroon [59]
·         Libya [61]

South Africa [61]
Meanwhile, world and European champions Spain are set to finish the year at the top of the world rankings for the fifth year in a row.

Germany have pushed Argentina out of second place, with Switzerland (up 7) and England (up 7) the new entries in the top ten. Italy has paid heavily for the draw against Armenia, dropping four places to eighth.

The 2014 World Cup hosts Brazil have dropped three places to 11th.

The next FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking will be published on Thursday, 28 November 2013.
