With
just over two weeks to go before the Carling Black Label Cup taking place at
FNB stadium on Saturday 27 July,
supporters of Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs may be
faced with an interesting challenge, with regards to selecting the starting line-ups
for the showpiece.
Both
clubs recently announced new signees and based on their profiles, the latest
recruits could add excitement to the campaign and maybe produce firepower come
match day. But that decision lies in the hands of their fans – who have till
midnight, 23rd July 2013 to vote for them.
Kaizer
Chiefs have delighted their fans by re-signing Zimbabwe international striker
Knowledge Musona on loan from German Bundesliga side Hoffenheim. Musona who was
affectionally known as ‘The Smiling Assassin" to his fans, lived up to his
nickname in his first spell with Chiefs,
scoring 28 goals in 49 starts for the Naturena club between 2009 and 2011.
It
was a scoring ratio that endeared him to the AmaKhosi faithful, who will be
delighted that he is back to add to their options up front, which also include
Bafana Bafana internationals Bernard Parker, Lehlohonolo Majoro and Sthembiso
Ngcobo in addition to Kaizer Motaung Jnr and Zimbabwe international Kingston
Nkhatha.
Orlando Pirates have also added to their star
quality with the acquisition of Ghana international goalkeeper Fatau Dauda. The
28-year-old has made the number one position his own with the Black Stars, more
so that his impressive form also earned a place in the squad that recently
played in the 2013 African Cup of Nations here in South Africa.
He
arrives from Ashanti Gold Sporting Club in his homeland and is expected give
competition to Pirates number one Senzo Meyiwa.
Pirates
have also signed right-winger Joseph Molangoane, who joins from Platinum Stars.
The exciting talent is fresh off a six-month loan spell at AmaZulu, and on his
day can devastate defences with his trickery on the ball.
Also
on the Pirates books are striker Lennox Bacela from Bloemfontein Celtic,
wingers Aubrey Ngoma – who was on loan at University of Pretoria and William
Thwala from FCAK.
If
supporters would like to see any of these stars in action at the 2013 Carling
Black Label Cup, there is still time to vote them into the starting line-up
before the big team reveals on 24 July 2013.
Supporters
can do this by purchasing a Carling Black Label beer and dialling *120*764* on
their cell phones.
Fans must then enter their unique code found
on the underside of the bottle cap and the # sign (with no spaces in between),
and can then choose the team they would like to manage, and the players they
would like to see start. The voting is free of charge to the public.
Those
supporters who cast their votes can win great prizes, including a share of
R3-million worth of airtime as well as match tickets for the sold-out showpiece
event on July 27 and, best of all, a coach’s experience with either Orlando
Pirates or Kaizer Chiefs on match day.
