The former Chippa United coach has been roped in as Assistant Coach of AmaZulu alongside Head Coach Craig Rosslee’s technical team with immediate effect, the club announced on Tuesday.

”We’re pleased to announce that Wilfred Mugeyi has been appointed as the assistant coach at AmaZulu on a two year contract.

He will start immediately with his new duties under the Head Coach, Craig Rosslee,” said AmaZulu General Manager, Peter O’Connor.

O’Connor also added that the Zimbabwean-born mentor will be at this Wednesday night’s home match against Bloemfontein Celtic but will only start afterwards to be based in the technical area as per normal protocol.

Prior to Mugeyi joining Chippa he had been second in charge at the Ikamva based Ajax Cape Town spanning from 2007 to 2012, which at some point saw him working with Rosslee.

The 43 year old ex-Zimbabwe international will be remembered for his goal scoring prowess as a striker for clubs such as Umtata Bush Bucks, Ajax and Free State Stars which also earned him the nickname ‘Silver Fox’.
