The
grass is expected to suffer when the two Soweto giants meet in the top of the
table clash at FNB Stadium on Saturday, 09 March 2013.
Absa
Premiership log leaders, Kaizer Chiefs who will be welcoming their Soweto
rivals under the theme: Moment of Glory.
With
the talks having started in the train stations, taxi ranks, streets and in
every corner of the country the moment that the fans have been waiting for has
finally arrived. The Soweto Derby on Saturday promises to be a humdinger as
both teams are currently neck on neck in the Absa Premiership standings.
“We
have themed the upcoming Soweto Derby as ‘Moment of Glory’,” commented a
visibly fired up Jessica Motaung.
“The
Derby Theme is in line with our theme for the season, ‘Reclaiming The Glory’
that has been welcomed by the multitudes of our supporters. This is a moment
each and every Khosi has been waiting for to put one against our Soweto
neighbours, Orlando Pirates. This moment represents us with an opportunity to
show who the real Bosso is in Soweto.
“Preparations
for this game as a flagship of the league started way back and it is all
systems go. The Marketing Team together with PR and Communication Teams have
packaged the game to make sure that the game leaves the lasting impression to
the thousands of fans who will be at the stadium, millions who will be watching
on television and listening on radio. It is going to be a Soweto derby with a
different touch,” said Jessica Motaung.
It
was in the Soweto Derby that the many legends were launched and the likes of
the Executive Chairman, Kaizer Motaung himself, the late Patrick Ace
Ntsoelengoe, Teenage ‘Botsotso’ Dladla, the current assistant coach Doctor
‘16V’ Khumalo and many other stars in the history of South African football
made their names.
Corporate
Communications and Public Relations Manager, Vina Maphosa said, “If the history
of the game is going to be documented there will be a huge chapter in the
history of the Soweto derby. Statistics indicate that as Chiefs we have a
supreme record over Orlando Pirates but statistics in this game are thrown out
of the window. This is a moment for us to consolidate our position on top of
the Absa Premiership.
“This
is a moment for the current crop of players to write their names in the history
books of South African football. The team will not be approaching this game
differently from the game against Chippa United and Bidvest Wits before is
worth three points. The team is going to approach the game with the mentality
to win. We will give Orlando Pirates the respect they deserve but this is our
moment, Moment of Glory,” added Maphosa with supreme confidence.
The
tickets for the game are sold out as Jessica Motaung confirmed; “Through our
branch networks in the country and outside we have mobilized the fans to fill
the stadium and come 15h00 the stadium will be painted gold and black. We would
like to call on our fans to wear our home jerseys and bring their vuvuzelas. We
would also like to encourage the fans to bring their gold flags and create a
memorable atmosphere.
We
call on our fans to continue supporting the team. We believe that we have the
best fans in the country and once more on Saturday our fans will be in full
song to inspire the team. Entertainment will be galore and in conjunction with
