Amakhosi looks for Wits scalp

Written By Unknown on Friday, March 1, 2013 | Friday, March 01, 2013

Kaizer Chiefs will be looking at completing the league double against Bidvest Wits when the two sides square up at the FNB Stadium on Saturday, 02 March 2013.

The two sides have already met three times this season with the Glamour Boys sending Bidvest Wits packing (3-1) in the league fixture at the Mbombela Stadium in the league back on 25 September 2012, but lost (3-2) in the Telkom Cup on 19 October 2012. However, the Students had no answers as rampant Chiefs brushed them (0-3) aside last Saturday, 23 February 2013 to proceed to the Last 16 of the Nedbank Cup.

The Glamour Boys go to the game against Bidvest Wits with their heads held high. They have collected seven out of nine points since the league programme resumed early in February 2013 following the Africa Cup of Nations break.

Tickets for the eagerly anticipated fixture are already on sale at Shoprite/Checkers and Computicket nationwide - selling for R40 adults and R10 for scholars.

Marketing Director Jessica Motaung commented saying; “We are not taking the game against Bidvest Wits for granted and the game we played in Mbombela over the weekend is water under the bridge. The game on Saturday will be a different new game and we are expecting Wits to come with guns blazing.
The Technical Team is pleased in the manner the players have responded in the past couple of weeks taking into consideration the tight schedule and the travelling involved. The players and everyone at Naturena is aware that it’s the battles that we have won not the war,”

The two sides locked horns at the beginning of the season in a pulsating fixture that produced a goalless draw, the game that ended Kaizer Chiefs winning streak.

Motaung elaborated further that the game on Saturday is as important as the Soweto Derby next Saturday at the same venue.

“The interest in this game has been amazing considering that it is the game before the highly anticipated derby. It needs to be noted though that from the Club’s perspective, the upcoming game is worth three points the same as the next league game in Cape Town against Chippa United on Wednesday, 6 March and Orlando Pirates at FNB on Saturday, 09 February 2013.

“We are playing at home and I would like to urge the fans once more to continue with the spirit that we saw in Mbombela Stadium and Peter Mokaba Stadium where the fans rallied behind the players singing and cheering the players on. The support has rubbed off on the team and if we continue working together the Club will reap the rewards.

Meanwhile the Marketing Director added that the Club will embark on Phase 2 of its campaigns for the remainder of the season; “Support Your Team Wear Your Colours campaign is on at Kaizer Chiefs for the season.  Buy Kaizer Chiefs Home Jersey, get exclusive Team Poster and get Double Derby Tickets. Visit KC Retail Store at the KC Village in Naturena. My colours are my life…Amakhosi 4 Life!”

Kaizer Chiefs has confirmed activation ahead of the game on Saturday as follows:
Venue: Phumlani Mall in Tembisa
Date: Friday, 01 March 2013
Time: 12h00 – 16h00

Kick off for the game is billed for 18h00.
