Transport Service during the 2013 AFCON Event

The Transportation Department in the City of Joburg is responsible for: (1) Providing a safe, reliable and efficient public transport system for the two games of the 2013 AFCON event. (2) Ensuring that transport connecting into or operating in Joburg are fully operational on match days.

The plans below are primarily for spectators to get to and from the match venue.

PARK AND RIDE/ PARK AND WALK SERVICE
The following parking facilities will be operational during the upcoming AFCON on the 19 January 2013 and on the 10 February 2013.

The gates at the Park and Ride/Park and Walk facilities will open four hours before the opening/closing ceremony and shuttle services will operate after the game until all fans have been taken to their vehicles.

Shuttles will leave the Park and Ride areas for the stadium every 10 minutes and as per demand.

The "Park and Ride" and "Park and Walk" venues will remain open until all cars have left the facilities.

Park and Ride service
Westgate and Constitution Hill will be serviced by Rea Vaya BRT. Spectators will be directed to board buses at the nearest station.

REA VAYA BRT
Rea Vaya BRT will operate its service at all its stations from Ellis Park and Park Station to Soccer City and from its station at Thokoza Park to Soccer City on match days. Frequencies will be approximately every 10 minutes.

DROP-OFF/PICK-UP AREAS AT THE STADIUM
Westgate and Constitution Hill will drop-off/pick-up at the BRT Stations (Nasrec Transport Hub):
* North Station to cater for Westgate and South Station to cater for Constitution Hill

Normal service will drop-off at the Soccer City Stations that are situated on the Soweto Highway.

* Attridgeville

Metrorail will be running a shuttle service from Westgate to Soccer City in match days.
