The National Soccer League (NSL) held its Special General Meeting (SGM) on Thursday in Sandton, Johannesburg.

Following the SGM, NSL chairman, Dr Irvin Khoza announced that the National First Division (NFD) will kick-off on the weekend of 14th September 2012.

Thursday’s SGM affirmed the decision adopted at the SGM on 01 August 2012 to make the NFD a stand-alone league. Subsequently, a sub-committee of six members has been formed to oversee the stand-alone process of the NFD.

The sub-committee will consist of Kaizer Motaung, John Comitis, Mato Madlala, Jabu Khumalo, Pierre Delvaux and Pat Malabela as its members. Motaung, chairman of the NSL Finance Committee, will be the convenor.

The Premier Soccer League will release the NFD fixtures in due course.
