adidas
announced the launch of a newconsumer campaign to name the Official Match Ball
for the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™.
Inspired
by elements of Brazilian culture, from music, art, fashion and football, the
poll will provide fans with the opportunity to choose their favourite on the
adidas football homepage from a selection of three potential names.
adidas
surveyed groups of fans within Brazil over the past year to help identify a
shortlist of three options, each selected for its distinctive link to Brazilian
culture:
Brazuca:
An informal term used by Brazilians to describe national pride in the Brazilian
way of life. As with their approach to football, it is always full of emotion,
pride and goodwill to all.
Bossa
Nova: A musical style which started in Rio de Janeiro in the 1950s and soon
became the most influential and important artistic and cultural movement in
Brazil, redefining the popular music. This rhythm has always translated into
how Brazil plays football, with an artistic flow that makes it look easy.
Carnavalesca:
The carnival is at the heart of Brazilian culture and always represents a
celebration of colour, music and happiness. Like football, this event will
always be connected to Brazilian history and a proud national heritage
The
three-week promotion begins on Sunday, August 12th, and represents the first
step for adidas in their journey towards the 2014 FIFA World Cup™. A microsite on
www.adidas.com/footballhosts voting
in Portuguese and showcases a video and pictorial background to each option,
which in turn encourages Brazilian fans to find out more about the testing and
development of the ball by signing up for exclusive offers and content which
becomes available as the tournament nears.
adidas
has been an official partner of FIFA for over 40 years, supplying the official
match ball for all FIFA World Cup™ matches since 1970.
