Talking
about David “DVD” Mathebula at Moroka Swallows - the guy is enjoying a form of
his life, because I think he is being played in his preferred position or should
I say best position, and he is showing his ability, at Kaizer Chiefs he was
used on the wing mostly, that’s why he didn't perform, at the start of the
season.
Walter
Mokoena mentioned something like Mandla Masango being given a free role behind
the striker, and Vladimir Vermezovic complied and Masango delivered vital goals,
playing behind Lehlohonolo Majoro, that was when Siphiwe “Shabba” Tshabalala was
out with an injury, and when he recovered he was the one given a free role
behind Majoro, and the results we can all see. Masango is now played wide, and
he is not influential as he was before, the same goes for Bernard Parker he is trying
his best, doing all the hard work!
At
Bafana Bafana he used to bang the goals partnered with Benni McCarthy upfront, he
would fall back and collect the ball, run at defence wit the ball, and score
goals, because he was always in the box at the right time. However at Kaizer Chiefs
his role has changed a bit, he does all the work, helping in recovering
possession, a hard worker. instead of labeling him a "cow", but rather
commend him from a great job he is doing, and every coach would love to have
such players.
I
wish Masango can learn this, and deliver in wherever is played on the field, he
can be the difference between us winning something, we all know what he did
against Swallows, he is good, he just need to play for the team, I strongly
feel as much as he showed some glimpse of brilliance behind Majoro, he can
equally be dangerous coming from the wing. Yes having DVD back competing with Shabba
in that role will be great. Jimmy Tau also need competition, but Chiefs mist
sign a quality right back.
