Following
the success of the inaugural Carling Black Label BE THE COACH campaign earlier
this year, which gave soccer fans across South Africa the sought-after
opportunity to be a coach and select the players they wanted to see on the
field, Carling Black Label has decided to further solidify their investment in
soccer. The Coaches’ Workshop will see a total of 180 coaches receive intensive
training over a five-year period.
The Carling
Black Label Coaches’ Workshop - developed and run by Bafana Bafana head coach
Pitso Mosimane, assisted by the South African Football Association’s (SAFA)
Technical Director, Serame Letsoaka - will sponsor 36 aspirant soccer coaches
to participate in a tailored coaching workshop from 28 November to 2 December
2011 at the University of Johannesburg’s (UJ) Soweto Campus.
“While
there are many programmes focusing on the development of soccer players, there
is still a great need to support and invest in coaching development at a
grassroots level in South Africa,” explained Rob Fleming, Head of Sponsorship
at South African Breweries. “The Carling Black Label Coaches’ Workshop will
develop the skills of talented, young coaches and will equip them for the tough
task of moving up a league.”
As such,
Bafana Bafana head coach Pitso Mosimane assisted by SAFA’s Technical Director,
Serame Letsoaka, will be presenting the first tailored Coaches’ Workshop to the
coaches and assistant coaches of the 18 SAB Regional League Teams.
The
Coaches’ Workshop will run from Monday 28 November to Friday 2 December, making
use of the facilities at UJ. Workshop content includes inter alia technical and
tactical training, sport psychology and management, first aid, nutrition and
conditioning. “Contributions by UJ guest lecturers will ensure that there is a
real scientific dimension to this course,” confirmed Andrea Quaye, General
Manager of Carling Black Label.
