Start of the season "war cry" - Bra P’s opinion

I am trying to figure out how to write this and still sound relevant.  So here we go.  I like being in tune with military history, particularly the composition of your army.  My love for diski always makes me compare that to military formations and state of mind.

First thing is first, when you army is formed, you need an identity.  Many times people believe your identity is how you look, I strongly disagree, and your identity is how your team thinks, your philosophy, your outlook on goals and how you achieve them. Training patterns towards your goal - you can choose to think defense first or attack first, you can be elegant in your approach or be a steam roller and run all over those that dare oppose you.

Same thing to diski, your army will need a very strong minded General (Coach)… and hardnosed Squad or Platoon that mirror the General vision for victory. (It is said that if you know your enemies and know yourself, you will not be imperiled in a hundred battles; if you do not know your enemies but do know yourself, you will win one and lose one; if you do not know your enemies nor yourself, you will be imperiled in every single battle. ) Be extremely subtle, even to the point of formlessness. Be extremely mysterious, even to the point of soundlessness.

Thereby you can be the director of the opponent's fate. Second thing needed, is support from your civilians aka Fans. This is arguably the crucial part of your army’s existence.  But in these days, “Civilians” like to forget the part they play and assume a different role, (Observe, the previous Bra P (opinion)).Your military existence is thru the resources of its Civilians, they provide the funding to ensure the military is not starved in battle and make their difficult job worth doing.  Trust me, if we all could do it, the whole exercise would be pointless, Play your part.

Third detail to pay attention to…”Appearance”… during the American Revolution, the British army were the most powerful regiment in the world, they were dubbed the “Red Coats” by their opponents.  A fearful identity, they would walk down the street and immediately raise the hair on the back of your neck by just how they were wearing their Red and Black uniforms.  They wore that with pride, they would die with those coats on, they knew having that uniform on, was the ultimate honor.

Know your enemy… it is the fourth highlight of this mail.  Study yourself first, know your strength and areas to improve, know where they will most likely to hit you from and work on making that a difficult area to be attacked.  If your left is stronger than your right, move swiftly to improve your right.  Ensure all the time that your spine is your main area of strength.  Some teams do not know much about themselves, but know more about others (recipe for a sub –par season)… some mountains will seem too high to climb, and some that you thought would be conquered with ease, may surprise your army, be ready for that.

The fifth and final focus to this session… is; your OBJECTIVES must be clear.  In the end, you must have conquered the most and lost the least.  Divide your regiments accordingly; your defenders of the fort should be at their peak during the battle… your frontline should be at their sharpest… (In other words, score more and concede the least).

Now I send this to rally up a “war cry” for all the civilians in this NBS forum… remember that your replica uniform is a major statement to your enemies, your voice is in that left sided badge above your heart, please note, your team will win games they have no business winning… lose games they have no business losing… draw games they have no business drawing.  You will get undue injuries, suspensions, and disappointments.  You will be lifted to heights that are super high and makes you dizzy… and your low might be too low to even believe it.  In all that, know that you do this for the love of the game.

Start of the season is upon us… go out there and enjoy.
