These teams used to be the "big three"!! No more because now every team is big enough to rumble and compete at any level. Mamelodi Sundowns, Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs were brought to face reality over the weekend.
It was Chiefs vs Santos at Athlone Stadium; the stadium was almost full to capacity if it wasn't for the constructions that are taking place in both north and south part of the stands. It was an entertaining football. I was stuck in the middle of the Kaizer Chiefs fans. In fact the ninety percent of the fans were Chiefs.
Disappointed in Cape Town people once more, Cape team was playing in their back yard but as usual they opted to watch European Football on their rented plasmas. Well Chiefs open the scoring with Zito slotting home a rebound from Francis Chansa's blunder; well it was a well taken short by Letsolonyane and a great finish by Zito.
Santos came fighting hard, Graham King was denied by the cross bar, he launched a thunder which gave Khune no chance, hit the inside of the cross bar and come out "well I think it was a goal" but the ref and his assistance decided otherwise.
Eleazar Rodgers!!!! What a player - cool and collected and can take any defender at anytime. He equalised with a well taken goal from a very tight angle, "acute angle if I still remember my trigonometry" and there it was again Itumeleng Khune's fumble for Bonginkosi Macala, to slot home a win for Santos.
Cape teams did well over the weekend; Ajax Cape Town slowed down Orlando Pirates speed, Mabhuti Khauleza opps Khenyeza was the man who damaged the loyal Pirates supporters. Once again the Chloorkop side was beaten, thanks to the former Kaizer Chiefs striker, David (Ferrari) Radebe. Coach Michael Henry has a mountain to climb, with Esrom Nyandoro injured and Surprise Moriri still trying to get match fitness, it's a disaster at the Mamelodi side.
The one thing that caught my attention most is Kaizer Chiefs fans. After the hammering by Santos - the Chiefs fans were throwing bottles and Vuvuzelas on the pitch. I thought people understand that in football you win some you loose some - let’s not be bad losers guys. Hope this behaviour changes as soon as possible (This is order not a request)!!!!
Festive Siya groova tjovitjo!
