Derby goes to Mmabatho

Written By Unknown on Thursday, October 23, 2008 | Thursday, October 23, 2008

The much-awaited derby between the Soweto giants (Not too sure they still deserve to be called as such), Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates on 15 November 2008, will now take place at Mmabatho Stadium in Mafikeng and kick off at 16h00.

According to the fixture list released by the Premier Soccer League early in the season, the derby was supposed to be taking place at Loftus Stadium in Pretoria. For some reason someone decided the People in Pretoria do not deserve the game at all.

This is going to the North West Province for the second consecutive year after Chiefs hosted the previous derby at the same province towards the end of last season. There is no planning in our league, but still people are surprised when people do not attend games. I thought I will go and see the game, but on second thought, it will be better to watch it on TV, more so because it really have lost the spark in recent times.

I still would like to know the real reasons for the derby to be moved. Why was it penned for Loftus in the first place?

Well to the people in Pretoria hard luck, the PSL will bring some crap game to Super Stadium instead.
