Premier
Soccer League (PSL) CEO, Brand de Villiers said the success of both Kaizer
Chiefs and SuperSport United in CAF club competitions is important in asserting
the PSL amongst the dominant leagues within the African continent.
Both
Kaizer Chiefs and SuperSport United will embark on yet another journey towards
qualifying for the group stages of the CAF Champions League and CAF
Confederations Cup respectively.
SuperSport
United will play Tunisian side ES Sahelin in the CAF Confederations Cup tie
while Kaizer Chiefs will travel to the Democratic Republic of Congo to face AS
Vita in the first leg of the CAF Champions League fixture.
“So
far, both Kaizer Chiefs and SuperSport United have done very well in
preliminary stages of the continental club championships. We will be fully
behind them this weekend as they play these important matches and also during
the return leg here at home. It is important that our clubs qualify for the
group stages and go as far as possible in both the CAF Champions League and the
CAF Confederations Cup. I wish both clubs the best of luck this weekend and
during the return leg,” De Villiers said.
