There
is something that is bothering me about South African football. It has no
concept. I mean even the coach cannot tell how his tactics link to the type of
football played in the Premier Soccer League (PSL).
The
problem starts with the big teams like Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs
putting too much faith on international coaches, Mamelodi Sundowns for
investing more on foreign players and National First Division (NFD) teams that
change their way of displaying football once they get to the PSL.
All
these factors contribute to the Bafana Bafana embarrassments. I follow NFD
league, you need no rocket science to see that the players there has hunger to
play. The pity is once their teams get promoted, they get rejected and then
those very teams buy the players categorized as rejects in the PSL.
I
will not mention names for now but one day I will get through 083 Sports@6 with Robert Marawa’s show and
name and shame everyone who is letting our soccer down. Perhaps, I would
already finish the performance management research I am doing on Sports
Minister Fikile Mbalula.
