Every
time when Orlando Pirates succumbed to accomplish certain accolade, we are
always subjected to countless stories of conspiracies to sabotage either a head
coach and his technical team or some certain players from certain management
official(s).
I
am flabbergasted to read an emotional, disheartening and tear-jerking story in
the Daily Sun from the team loyal captain and the longest serving member in the
team Lucky Lekgwathi. He claimed that “sinister forces” are behind his
exclusion from the Orlando Pirates line-up for the MTN8 Final – but says he
does not blame Orlando Pirates coach Roger de Sa. It means the issue of team
selection is now beyond the coach Roger de Sa…. very interesting!
It
is clear that there is an unequivocal management interference with the team
selection which will slowly but surely take the team down during this crunch
time. Recently, media was given starting line-up of Orlando Pirates with
Lehlohonolo “Vieira’ Masalesa in the starting eleventh in the MTN8 Final, but
when the team came out of the tunnel, Vieira was replaced by Andile Jali and
even today, many don’t know the rationale behind Masalesa last minute
replacement whilst those claiming to be close to the name dropped certain team
management official interfering with the team selection.
For
the sake of unity in the team and also to pursue the dream of attaining the
second star, roles and responsibilities between technical team and management
should be clearly re-articulated and re-defined to avoid further encroachment
of management into the technical team tactical territory.
Technical
team must execute their tactical mandate without any so called “sinister”
forces manipulating their decision making.
The
team has come too far not to give-up at the crunch time of CAF Champions League Semi-Final, but where there is smoke there is fire.
Once and always!
