The
32nd edition of the Telkom Knockout will crown another champion for 2013 as the
16 Premier Division clubs go head-to-head for one of South Africa’s major
domestic honours.
The
opening fixture of the TKO last 16 will be played on Wednesday, 02 October 2013.
Bloemfontein
Celtic lifted the trophy in 2012; the first time in their history after a
roller-coaster ride to the final that included their epic penalty shoot-out
victory over Orlando Pirates in the quarterfinals. Celtic went on to defeat
Mamelodi Sundowns in the Final.
Siwelele
will defend their title this year against their 15 top-flight opponents, each
hungry for some silverware to take into the New Year. But there can only be one
winner!
“As
ever there are plenty of matches to look forward to in the opening round of
this year’s Telkom Knockout competition. That is what makes this competition
among South Africa’s most loved. It is strength versus strength from the start
– we have 15 top matches before we crown our champion for 2013 on November 30,”
says Ms Joy Khaole – Executive Group Brand and Sponsorships at Telkom
“We
are delighted to be entering this eighth year of our partnership with the
Premier Soccer League and would like to thank Dr Irvin Khoza and all at the
League for the tremendous amount of hard work that goes into putting together a
tournament of this magnitude.”
