Why do Pirates coaches leave after winning silverware?

Written By Unknown on Monday, July 22, 2013 | Monday, July 22, 2013

I love Orlando Pirates and I always wish for the best result in any game we play. I do however have some concerns. I've observed this trend since 2001.

After a coach wins the championship with Pirates or when we (The Ghosts) like that coach, he somehow always leaves and when we don't like him, he stays just a bit longer.

For example, Gordon Igesund won the championship, next season gone. Roy Barreto was next to win then also, gone. After that came Kosta Papic who didn't win the league but had an almost perfect teams that kept us glued to our team and loving every minute of Pirates, he also somehow was gone.

We got Ruud Krol, after frustrating two years of us screaming and shouting that he should go, our screams fell on deaf ears and Dr Irvin Khoza waiting till he won 3 trophies and all of our hearts and as a Pirates coach that seems to be a crime and so he was gone.

Next Julio Leal, he won two trophies then next he was gone. Then Augusto Palacios, won the league and he also was gone. We now have Roger de Sa, his team is not doing well, the fans are crying for him to go but their cries are falling on deaf ears, as per usual cause he hasn't won anything, he won't go.

We get different excuses, some shadier than others but ultimately coaches who want to stir this ship into more great success and catch our hearts all ultimately go! I wonder when this trend will end.

We could be far than when we are at the moment, we could be having more than two stars on our shirts right now and we'd have more than two fans go to the stadium. But that's just my dumb observation!
