Kaizer
Chiefs Village is the hype of activity following the return of the team from a
brief preseason camp in Mpumalanga.
Head
Coach, Stuart Baxter is pleased with the preparations and the acquisitions thus
far; “The camp in Mpumalanga was a success and I was pleased with the intensity
shown by the players.
Knowledge
Musona has looked sharp at training and he is taking in as much information as
he can on how we want him to play. What happened last season is great for this
football Club but now it belongs to the archives. We have to focus on the new
season that comes with new challenges.
I
would like to take this opportunity to welcome both Knowledge Musona and
Simphiwe Mtsweni to the Club. We are pleased to have them here and hopefully
they will help us as we look to continue with the culture of winning trophies
for this Club.
I
would like to thank the players who were with us last season and have been
released. They have made their contribution to the success of the Club and will
always be remembered. We are looking to strengthen the team further going
forward.
The
Gauteng Football Cup is going to give us an opportunity to see a few players
and where we stand in terms of our preparations. We are going to this one as
champions and we will be looking to keep the Cup at our offices in Naturena.
The
Carling Cup in the following week is a massive game for us and we have been
watching the manner that the fans have been voting for the teams. I would like
to call once more on the Kaizer Chiefs faithful to rally behind the team in
this coming season.
We
will once again approach each game with a mentality to win and give our best.
We owe this to the founding fathers and former players who represented this
Club with pride.
Meanwhile
the Glamour Boys have launched a new home jersey ahead of the upcoming season,
2013/2014 and Marketing Director Jessica Motaung is delighted with the feedback
from the supporters and sport fanatics.
“Together
with our Technical Sponsors Nike, we have decided to bring back the classic
look of football with our new jersey. The launch of the new jersey sees the
departure of the bold diagonal stripes proudly sported by the team as we
‘Reclaimed the Glory’.
The
New Jersey pays homage to the Club’s rich heritage and evokes memories of the
team that dominated in the early 70’s. It brings back the memories of the likes
of Jackie Masike, the late Elkiem ‘Pro’ Khumalo, Michael ‘Monkey Jive’ Dlamini,
the late Ace Ntsoelengoe, Banks Setlhlodi and many more who donned the gold and
black jersey in the 70s including the Club’s Executive Chairman, Kaizer
‘Chincha Guluva’ Motaung.
Feedback
on the jersey from the supporters has been amazing. The supporters have been
sending messages of support and jubilation through our multimedia. We expect
the supporters to come to the Village on July 18, as the jersey will be
available at Kaizer Chiefs Retail Store at R659 for the replica jersey, said
Jessica Motaung, adding that the jersey will be sold at various outlets
countrywide from the 19 July 2013.
The
classic styled gold jersey features a black collar and black trim sleeves. The
new home shorts are black, paired with gold socks with black trim.
