Absa
Premiership runners-up, Platinum Stars were today rewarded with R1, 5 million
for emerging as winners of the Absa Premiership Quarter Four Q-Innovation
(Q-4).
This
is the second time this season that Stars have claimed the prize – a record
they share with Absa Premiership champions, Kaizer Chiefs who also claimed Q1
and Q3. Dikwena won Q2 and Q4.
Platinum
Stars finished top of Q4 with 14 points. They were presented with the R1.5
million cheque by PSL Acting CEO, Cambridge Mokanyane.
Mokanyane
heaped praise on Platinum Stars coach, Cavin Johnson following gutsy
performances in the Absa Premiership.
“Even
though they did not win the Championship, Platinum Stars should be applauded
for their performance this season. They played well and Cavin Johnson and his
players should be commended for their effort. They fully deserve these
honours,” he said.
Mokanyane
also reflected on the success of the Q-Innovation concept that was introduced
by PSL Chairman, Dr Irvin Khoza at the beginning of the season.
