Fake
match tickets have started doing their rounds at Moroka Swallows home matches
and this has prompted the club together with the police to launch an
investigation.
Swallows
are set to lock horns against Kaizer Chiefs in an Absa Premiership encounter at
the Volkswagen Dobsonville Stadium on Saturday evening (kick-off 6pm).
The
Birds safety and security manager Eddie Caluza confirmed that tickets are
selling well as expected.
"Tickets
are already available at Computicket outlets, Shoprite/ Checkers and at
Kopanong Hall in Dobsonville at R40.00 for adults.Tickets for juveniles will be
available on the day of the match at Kopanong Hall at R10.00,” Caluza said.
"We
are aware of the fake tickets and the police are following up on the leads to
catch the perpetrators. We urge fans not to support these fraudulent activities
as it will get them into trouble with the law.
"We
understand that people are also being tricked into parking in areas outside
those we have booked. Parking is free for all ticket holders. The soccer and
rugby fields around the stadium are the areas that we provide for fans at all
our home matches and parking there is free with official security provided.
”We
plead with attending fans to not follow any instructions from unofficial 'car
guards' who order them to park next to people's yards or in the streets as
Metro Police will impound their cars from these areas.”
Caluza
encouraged fans to uplift the Birds in the same spirit they did in the 3-2
comeback win over Orlando Pirates, when they face Kaizer Chiefs in the Nest
this weekend.
The
match against Pirates was the last highlighted encounter played at the Nest and
the fans passed with flying colours in what was a demonstration of the true
spirit of the South African football at the Original Soweto Derby.
"We
want that kind of spirit to once again to be present at the Volkswagen
Dobsonville Stadium," he added.
He
however warned of over-excitement, as the powers that be will deal with fans
engaged in unsociable behavioral acts on the night.
"Police
together with our safety stewards will be on high alert for any sort of fan
misbehavior, so fans must refrain from carrying what could be perceived as dangerous
weapons," he explained.
"All
our matches are family events, therefore smoking is prohibited in the stands.
There are special designated areas at the stadium for smoking.
"The
smoking of dagga is still illegal in South Africa and those who will be found
smoking in the stands where there are women and kids, will be arrested. Fans
must also refrain from arriving under the influence of alcohol."
Gates
will open as early as 2pm on the day.
